Invalid Or Missing Encryption Key Error
or higher and trying connecting to the Local Database via System DSN or DBISQLC.After the launch of Siebel version 8.0 the local database is now encrypted, if you have not provided some specific parameters while Local Database Extract. The point to be noted here you can successfully login into the Siebel Tools / Client using the same local database without any issues. But you cannot, if want to play with it via backend. Sounds strange but this is how it actually works. The only solution that I found is to specify few extra parameters apart from what we generally specify during the Local Database Extract and after that it worked fine. So here is the complete list of Parameters that you can use while database extract to avoid this kind of error.1. Navigate to "Administration-Server Management -> Jobs".2. Create new record with "Component/Job" = "Database Extract".3. Under Job Parameters, add the following : a) Client Database encryption method = Noneb) Client Name = "Your Login Name"c) Database Init Method = Sql Anywhered) Database template file name = sse_utf8.dbfe) Encrypt client Db password = Falsef) Extract all Repository Tables = False4. Click on Submit Job.5. Once completed, rename the "sse_data.dbf" in "SiebelSrvr/Tools/Local" folder and connect to the Local database again to initialize the local database again.6. Do a "Full-Get" to get all the necessary repository objects.7. Try connecting to the Local Database via System DSN or DBISQLC, it should work fine. Make sure you use the Username and password in CAPS.Hope it helps !!!! However, I was wondering if there is any other solution apart from re-extracting. Its only some encryption key missing and I am sure if we provide it in the 'System DSN' it would start working fine. However, the question arises - what would be the default encryption key? And can we really import that?RegardsDD (dheeraj.deolal@gmail.com)ReplyDeleteRepliesSahenaz ParwinDecember 1, 2013 at 8:51 PMHi DD,You run following SQL in server DBSELECT s1.PREF_CD, s1.VAL, s2.NAME FROM S_NODE_PREF s1, S_NODE s2 WHERE s1.PREF_CD ='RemLocSec:PlainKey' AND s1.NODE_ID = s2.ROW_ID AND s2.NAME=Please provide UserID as an i

ODBC Connection Problem--invalid userid and password KABILNAGU KAMARAJ asked Jan 20, 2011 | Replies (5) Hi Friends, I'm having some queries about ODBC Connection. The problem is: 1. I am able to login into Siebel Tools Local with my extracted Userid & Password. 2. After that, when I check ODBC Connection for Local(i.e SSDLOCALDBDEFAULTINSTANCE),It's saying that "Invalid Userid & Password". 3.And also When i check ODBC Connection before login into Tools LOCAL, It's displaying "Incorrect or missing Encryption Key". One thing I don't understand. Why its saying error in ODBC Connection itself when I am able to logininto Tools Local. Waiting for Best Responses... Siebel 7.7 and Siebel 7.8). As I didn’t had my local extracted I copied my friends DBF file in Siebel\Tools\Local directory in order to http://siebelunleashed.com/siebel8-1-web-client-userid-password-incorrect/ explore the application. I started Siebel Tools, put in local user id http://it.toolbox.com/people/ganesh3/journal-entry/3920/ and password and logged in successfully (without any problems). Then I opened dedicated client and entered same local username and password (the one I used for Siebel Tools) but I got and error saying “User Id or Password entered is incorrect” I checked the username and password invalid or but it was same that was used for Siebel Tools and had no problems. So, I stared looking at root cause of why this error is coming. Searching Web for this problem brought me suggestion like: Copy “mwc_storage.xxx” (actual name of the file is mwc_storage.cfg) from where I copied dbf to the client directory. (This file is present in invalid or missing client directory but is of 0 bytes) Delete *.SPF file from client directory. Try replacing the SRF file but nothing seemed to work. Then I saw somebody suggesting that go tinker with data sources. When you install Siebel 8.1 (in fact any Siebel version) two data sources (System DSN) are created by default SEAW Local Db default instance (for Siebel Dedicated Client) and SSD Local Db default instance (For Siebel Tools) I went to Client Data Source (SEAW Local Db default instance ) and clicked on Test Connection button after enter my local username and password (in CAPS) as shown below And received an error: Selected database is already in use. I went to database tab and deleted the information in present in Server Name and Start line field and reselected the DBF file using browse button and retested again and this time received message “Connection Successful” I tried opening the client after this and was able to open it successfully. P.S: If it still doesn’t work for you try deleting same information from t

The solution is to Re extract the user again. when you will create a job for extracting the database add few parameters in it. The parameters are : 1.Client Database encryption method : none 2.Encrypt client Db password: False This will solve the problem. If u also want that no Remote system prefernces should work on your client, disable them by going in Adminstration-Siebel Remote>Remote System Preferences Screen. this should be done before extracting the client. « Previous | Next » Comments Please sign in to post your comment Most Recent Entries Attributes of a Great Manager!!!
