answers to offer (so why am i here?). As an A70 owner with a Kingston 256MB card and

no history of error, I'm inclined to ask others what process they typically use to clear pictures off the card?To date, I've only used the Camera itself (either delete

all or format) to clear the card, having read bad things about using any external tool (windows explorer, etc.) for wiping the card clean. Is there any rhyme or reason to this? Is it possibly linked to external 'writing' to the card? (which is what deleting an images or formatiing will do.. write to the card)Looking for answers and hoping canon powershot a720 memory card I won't ever have to see this error on my Cam/Card. Couple of thousand pics with several dozens of delete/formats (I don't typically fill the card before I clear it) without incident, knock on wood.Has anyone ever had someone from Canon acknowledge this alledged issue with any known causes/contributing factors?-icmpJoe Fackelman wrote:turb0 wrote:I've happily taken to making PHOTOS after receiving A70 camera as a b.d. present and buying PQI 256MB F1 card, until this one night..you've guessed it, MEMORY CARD ERROR came to visit.I've been shoved by both Companies, local Canon told to talk to authorized repair shop who basically refused to even hear about memory cards, while PQI preferred to keep silence. From what I can gather, this seems to be a firmware problem. My first telephone contact with Canon customer service was a rude, script-reading drone. After reaching someone reasonable, Canon http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r10945933-Tech-Canon-PowerShot-A70-Memory-Card-Error told me to send in the camera for a repair.A few weeks later, they send a quote in the mail, which would have been $125 to fix it. I purchased this camera for $299, and have an ad in my hand listing it at $149 (their new A75 has replaced it - maybe the A75 is the "memory card error"-free version...). I had influenced at least two people to buy similar Canon cameras when they saw how much I liked my A70. This "memory card error" seems to be a very common occurance with this camera when googling. My response was that they could either return it fixed at no charge or un-fixed, but if un-fixed, I would sell everything I owned by Canon and replace them with competing products, and let everyone I know hear how Canon chose to treat me.Canon returned it un-repaired.The camera works when connected via USB to a computer, so I suppose I now have a studio camera, and need to buy a new

Unfortunately what you have described indicates that the problem seems to be with your camera memory a70 memory card card slot thats why you are facing this type of problem. So first, using a flashlight and a magnifier, if necessary, look into the camera's cards slot to see if all of the pins are straight. If any are bent, you can attempt to straighten them using a small screwdriver. Next, If the pins appear straight, use a can of compressed air to blow out the slot, since a small piece of dust could block the connection. A conventional repair shop may be necessary if the DIY solutions don't solve the problem.
