Posted: 07-Sep-2013 | 10:35AM • 6 Replies • Permalink Several thousand Google links returned when I search for SRTSP Event ID 4 - Error loading virus definitons For any Norton internals people the code returned is 00 00 00 00 01 00 54 00 00 00 00 00 04 00 08 c0 Before you reply to my post PLEASE read on FIRST. I've been a Norton customer for a long time. I am familar with the corporate culture: Norton pretends to fix problems and the customer pretend the fixes work. It is a good money if you can get into the racket. I remain unimpressed with the fact that Norton KNOWS THIS ERROR is happening, and only pays marginal lip service tothe problem. They give the standard 1989 answser; R&R. Remove and reinstall. It is 2013 and I don't have enough time in my day to play find and go seek with go people at Norton. If you have a REAL solution to the problem I would be grateful if you would share it with me. If you have some guesses, thanks for reading. If you want to share it as a suggestion please tell me that is what it is. For example 1. the folder size for SRTSP, 2. Malware issues, etc. If you have the real solution to the problem I would sincerely appreciate you sharing it with me. I am running the most current version of Norton 360 on all three of my PCs. The problem happens once or twice a day on two of my three PCs, Windows XP Pro. In each instance I am able to start the Norton 360 UI and run updates manually. I'm running a current and updated Norton 360 on a Windows XP system, fully current. Otherwise, Norton appears to run fine https://community.norton.com/en/forums/error-loading-virus-definitions and keep itself updated and is finding no viruses. I also run Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware and they find nothing too. What to do to stop these errors? I suspect they may be involved in the "freezing" although even if not, I'd like to eliminate them. Solved Corrupt Symantec Endpoint Protection (SEP) Definitions on 1 Server Posted on 2012-03-15 Anti-Virus Apps Windows Server 2003 1 Verified Solution 5 Comments 5,224 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-09 Hey, I've got all my desktops/servers protected with Symantec Endpoint Protection 11.1 and has been working fine for over 18 months. Occasionally I'll get one client report a corrupt definition, so I usually just run the intelligent updater on them and it resolves it. Problem is I now have 1 client (my main file server and DC) where the defs are corrupt and I can't resolve it. I have tried, 1. Running the intelligent updater - no effect 2. Stopping EndPoint - Doing this - http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH103176&locale=en_US - Same problem, after a few mins it reports corrupt defs. 3. Doing the same as above but running the intelligent updater afterwards - same problem I'm a little lost now. No other servers/clients report the same problem and they all use the same definitions. I get event ID 40 - Symantec Endpoint Protection has determined that the virus definitions are missing on this computer. This computer will remain unprotected from viruses until virus definitions are downloaded to this computer.Application has encountered an error. and event ID 4 - SRTSP - Error loading virus definitions. Any suggestions? Thanks, Andy 0 Question by:manic_andy Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 8 Best Solution byTymetwister Try uninstall/reinstall of SEP?
