any guidance as to what to do? Is it time to take it in to the Apple Store or do I just dump the machine and get a new one?I wonder if this is not caused by any updates? Would that be possible? iMac Posted on Mar 26, 2013 1:05 PM I have this question too Close Q: iMac won't start ... The https://forums.applenova.com/showthread.php?t=37524 log seemed to suggest that there were problems with the disk i/o and mounting the file system. To you experts: Can you interpret what this means? Was this a hardware problem? Can you decide more specifically what the problem was? Do you have any suggestions of a potential fix? That'll force a directory check and may ferret out something on the software side that got boinked somehow. Edit: skimming on the phone will be the death of me. :/. Try holding down Cmd+R at startup. That'll bring you to a screen where you can run Disk Utility iirc. quote 709 View Public Profile Send a private message to 709 Find More Posts by 709 Ebby Veteran Member Join Date: May 2004 Location: Over Yander 2013-06-16, 20:52 Is that recovery thing built into the firmware? If the drive is hosed it wouldn't load anything even from a recovery partition. I gotta try that now quote Ebby View Public Profile Send a private message to Ebby Visit Ebby's homepage! I've just noticed in the last 2 weeks my startup time is incredibly slow, almost about 5 minutes. I have reset the PRAM and still nothing, only that the mac doesnt want to start up !! just stuck on the apple logo with circular moving object moving below it any ideas how i can fix this? and no, i have not downloaded iWork 09 Thank you ( Last edited by MacProo; Jan 26, 2009 at 07:50 PM. Reason: After reseting the pram on the MBP, it does not want to start up and gets stuck on the blue screen) View Public Profile Find More Posts by MacProo 64stang06 Mac Elite Join Date:Aug 2007 Status: Offline Jan 26, 2009, 09:41 PM Start up in safe mode if possible, holding Shift as soon as you turn the computer on. After a bit you should see a screen indicating you are starting in safe mode. If that allows you to log in and use the machine, it could be something in the /Library folder causing issues.
