Apple logo and loading image forever.. I tried cmd+s: Went through all the steps from the applejack, tried fsck -fy, all semmed pok, Tried cmd+v: It wouldn't fully load, got the error Disk02 I/O imac i/o error error (it was the original 1TB disk with two partitions), So I thought the HD must be done, so I bought one Samsung SSD HD 120GB Sata 3, Same result. Thing is that I tried with both drives to install again the mac os x vía USB (I don't have a CD drive) and in both cases I came up with the tipical 'you must reboot your computer' error scereen. So With the new HD replacing I did same steps, cmd+s and cmd+v provided same results.... Then I would try an SMC reset. Mavericks and Mountain Lion can be pretty finicky and even strange when new hardware is installed. I've had to reset the SMC on my system with Mavericks 3 times since I started using Mavericks. In my case, it's Mavericks, not the hardware. It's buggy. The I/O error typically is either a b

Hello! Im posting here out of desperation for some kind of help with my Powerbook. It is a problem that has only started to occur in the last few days. The hard disk will begin to seek more aggressively causing itunes to skip and applications to halt. The colour wheel appears whilst the disk continues to seek and then all of a sudden it will go back to working correctly. http://www.mac-forums.com/showthread.php?t=20062 The more applications running the more frequent the slow downs. I have been watching activity monitor whilst it occurs and none of the programs are using large amounts of processor time, infact the activity monitor itself is always on top with about 10%. Activity monitor does report large amounts of disk activity. I checked console and the system logs are reporting the following: Jun 11 20:23:13 isunk kernel[0]: disk0s9: I/O error. Jun 11 20:45:57 isunk kernel[0]: disk0s9: I/O error. Jun 11 20:46:38 isunk kernel[0]: disk0s9: I/O error. Jun 11 20:48:00 isunk kernel[0]: disk0s9: I/O error. Naturally I got a bit panicky at this and decided to reboot off the install DVD and run disk utility... I ran all available first aid :doctor: procedures and the disk passed the tests. Nothing on my system has changed, no software or hardware changes ha

After several reboots I managed to close most of my applications but the problem presisted. My free disk space is about 11GB. I opened “Spotlight” and saw the file indexing process in progress. After waiting for about half an hour I have decided to turn the indexing off, and did that through terminal. The slow performance persisted and when I opened the “Console”; I am getting PM kernel: disk0s2: I/O error Every second. As per Google search this is an HD problem. But how and why? Among this error I am also getting a bunch of repeating messages: Aug 4 22:37:03 MacBook–Air–2 com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.iCloudHelper[4459]): Exited with code: 1 Aug 4 22:37:03 MacBook–Air–2 com.apple.launchd[1] (com.apple.iCloudHelper[4459]): XPC Service could not exec(3).
