Three times now, in about as many weeks, Centos has gotten stuck in somekind of tight, uninterruptible loop that eats up 100% of the CPU, leaving ittotally unresponsive. When this happens, I can ping the machine, but I can't log in via ssh, and Ican't log in at the console. The console does o error not echo or respond to any typed characters or mouse actions. The VMware management GUI tells me the guestOS (Centos) is using 100% of its CPU, and about 10% or less of its RAM.I installed Centos from CentOS-7-x86_64-DVD-1503-01.iso; I chose "Server withGUI" and added Hardware monitor tools, Development tools, and Security tools.I did a full update, and installed a few Kerberos, PAM, and GSSAPI libraries.I installed sendmail and disabled postfix; I installed LogWatch. That's aboutit o error dev -- no apps like Apache, MySQL, or Samba.I have set up Centos to boot into a text console; the last time it startedspinning its wheels at 100% CPU, the console showed a few messages like this:[210715.746862] sd 0:0:0:0: timing out command, waited 180s[210715.746991] end_request: I/O error, dev sda, sector 23555917[210715.747574] XFS (dm-0): metadata I/O error: block 0x117bf4d ("xlog_iodone") error 5 numblks 64[210715.747700] XFS (dm-0): Log I/O Error Detected. It would help to know when they occurred (I knowwhen VMware raised its alarm about a virtual machine using excessive CPU). Arethose numbers in brackets timestamps? How do I interpret them? This is a test box, so no one is logged into it when it goes 100%-CPU. Thishas always happened in the wee hours of the morning. This problem has never occurred in our other virtual machines (runningRHEL4, Solaris, and Windows). Can anyone suggest ways to troubleshoot this? Or recommend the right way toconfigure Centos 7 to run in a virtual machine? Like, would EXT4 be a betterchoice than XFS? Would the LSILogic SCSI adapter work better than theparavirtual one? Are there daemons that Centos 7 runs by default th
