The error message stops when I eject the CD. I do not get the error message at all when I boot with an empty CD/DVD drive. However, the drive works after Ubuntu is loaded. I can read CDs and DVDs just fine. I did not see this error in 8.04. a) Is anyone else having this issue? b) How can I resolve this issue? System: MB: ASUS M3A32-MVP Deluxe CPU: AMD Phenom 9850 Qu

Arch Linux » Error: "end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector xxxxx" - Linux Error: end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 537392 If you're getting a similar error filling http://alexsleat.co.uk/2011/03/20/end_request-io-error-dev-sr0-sector-xxxxx-linux/ your screen once you've installed Ubuntu, don't panic. It's pretty common which is basically because Ubuntu (or any other Linux distro) can't control your CD/DVD drive properly, it's probably http://forums.majorgeeks.com/index.php?threads/what-is-this-error-2631-636695-end_request-i-o-error-dev-sr0-sector-505656.230989/ trying to open/close it but doesn't know if it has or not. The problem is that you don't get to see what Ubuntu wrote before because it's filled o error your screen up with this error. If you've just installed Ubuntu this probably happened when it wanted you to take the disc out and close the cd tray (if there is one) then hit Enter to finish the installation, so just do that and ignore this error. is this error: [ 2631.636695] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 505656 Discussion in 'Software' started by Ray79, Jan 12, 2011. Ray79 Specialist Hi. I got this error when I finished installing Ubuntu 10.04 LTS on my old spare PC. This happened after I removed the CD. Everything appears to be fine. Just curious as to what the error means. Code: [ 2631.636695] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 505656 [ 2631.636695] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 505656 [ 2631.636695] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 505656 [ 2631.636695] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 505656 [ 2631.636695] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 505656 [ 2631.636695] end_request: I/O error, dev sr0, sector 505656 It carried on like this for a few more lines. I hit enter and the PC rebooted into Ubuntu. Thanks. Ray79, Jan 12, 2011 #1 hawklord Master Sergeant it doesn't seem to be a specific error, here's a thread about it on the ubuntu forums, bit old but still relevant http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1015569 hawklord, Jan 12, 2011 #2 (You must log in or sign up to reply here.)
