When I saved it to my mac's hard drive, no problem. Is there a short answer to why that happens? I didn't appear to be out of space on the external drive... One person suggested that this file may be corrupted since I've been bouncing back and forth between 2 different Illustrator programs. I use CS-4 at work, save as CS-3 format then continue working on it at home. I tried copying each layer to a new fresh doc. but still get the error code. Is there a way to fix this file? Both back-up files I have behave the same way. Back to top Report #2 AGT AGT Member Designer 34 posts Posted 30 April 2013 - 11:28

In my office, we have a server network set up, and we save all of our files to the main server so that everyone in the office may access them. Recently I o error started receiving an error in Illustrator CS3 when I try to save to the server that says "a file I/O error has occurred" and it doesn't save. I can save to the physical drive of this computer just fine, but it's a no-go with the server. I'm working on an iMac, if that makes any difference. Thanks! ktbelle, Feb 28, 2008 #1 Hughv Joined: Jul 22, 2006 Messages: 8,450 file i/o error I suppose there could be many causes (Disk full? Chkdsk?) but when I've seen this error it's been hardware related. Hughv, Feb 29, 2008 #2 This thread has been Locked and is not open to further replies. A file I/O error has occurred" (Adobe Pro 8.0). I received this error when I was trying to saved a PDF file over 2GB. I identified the issue to be "Allow fast web view". This option does not allow the output file to be very big! Solution: From Tool bar select 'edit' --> References --> from Categori
