Outlook 2003 Custom Dictionary Error
Custom Dictionary Exists ErrorHome» General Outlook opportunities» Outlook No Custom Dictionary Exists Error [message #107802] Tue, 16 January 2007 06:45 Will NiccollsMessages: 4Registered: January 2007 Junior Member This is happening for one user on a Terminal Server on Server 2003 SP1. Outlook 2003, SP2. Spellcheck is forced for each message via Group Policy. When the spellcheck runs, Outlook displays the message: "No custom dictionary exists. Would you like to create one?". On answering "OK", it displays the error: "There was an error creating the custom dictionary" Nothing is written to the event logs. Deleting and recreating the user's Outlook profile does not fix it. Other users are not experiencing this error, spellcheck works fine. I suspect there is something bad in the user profile but don't know where to look next. Ideas anyone? Thanks, Will Report message to a moderator Re: No Custom Dictionary Exists Error [message #128874] Mon, 26 February 2007 03:04 JoBaMessages: 1Registered: February 2007 Junior Member Check the *.dic files (normally it´s custom.dic) in the %userprofile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Proof folder. Move them into a temporary directory (Office should be closed), then add a new word in office to the user dictionary. Now a new custom.dic should be created. Try to refill it with the old values from the backuped file via copy and paste if you want to recycle the old data. If you get the same error again, look in the file if you see any strange entries. This steps solved the problem on my pc with the same error message you described. "Will Niccolls" wrote: > I was able to fix this by deleting the entire user profile from Terminal > Server. Solved Outlook 2003 - An Error Occurred While Creating the Custom Dictionary Posted on 2009-09-25 Email Clients 2 Verified Solutions 4 Comments 1,416 Views Last Modified: 2012-08-13 The out of office assistant was missing, so I used detect and repair. I checked both outlook 2003 boxes. When sending a message now, I am prompted that no custom dictionary exists. Would I like to create one. I hit yes, but then receive the message, An Error Occurred While Creating the Custom Dictionary. Aside from uninstalling Office and reinstalling, does anyone have other suggestions? 0 Question by:spaethg000 Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 5 Best Solution byBasheerpt Just a thought, Are you trying to repair with Admin privilege? Search the file called CUSTOM.DIC. You may search this file from other pc and understand its location try to copy this file and paste it in your affected system's exact location. Have a try. Please note it may not be a 'professional' solution, just a workaround..:) 0 Message Author Comment by:spaethg0002009-09-25 The problem was isolated to one user on the Citrix box. I ended up removing the mail profile, and re-creating it. That corrected the problem. The custom dictionary now works fine. 0 Write Comment First Name Please enter a first name Last Name Please enter a last name Email We will never share this with anyone.
