directly from MS. GoDaddy is saying its an outlook problem, recommended I look at the error log, but didnt know how to access it....Any help would be greatly appreciated Tuesday, June 12, 2012 5:23 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote Hi Soho398, From what you said, it looks Outlook's addins causing the issue (restarting). To access Outlook error log: open Computer Management - Event outlook connection log Viewer - Windows Logs - Applications or/and Event Viewer - Applications and Service Logs - Microsoft Office Alert. As a recommended solution I would open Outlook in safe mode first. It will indicate if Outlook’s add-ins causing the issue. To start Outlook in safe move: Start – Run and type C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\Outlook.exe /safe If Outlook stopped restarting (in safe mode) then you know it is one of the add-ins. Open Outlook again in Safe Mode and disable issued add-ins. Sometimes, .pst file is corrupted or even hard drive. So, check / verify .pst file: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Office\Office14\scanpst.exe As per hard drive; run a scandisk or even hardware test to verify it. Outlook crashed? In the Event Viewer, you can often find out more information about why Outlook crashed. The Event Viewer is a general location in Windows itself where applications and Windows can write status events when https://www.msoutlook.info/question/317 for instance a service is started/stopped, an application is launched or closed, if a https://hostingxtreme.com/web/blog/uncategorized/diagnosis-ms-outlook-errors-enabling-logging/ backup was successful, who logged on to the system, etc… It also contains events for when an application unexpectedly stopped or crashed. logging Posted by Alex HD at HostingXtreme on 2014-12-26. Comments Off on Diagnosis of MS Outlook errors by enabling logging As a hosting provider, we are limited to troubleshooting issues related to our services and products only. Outlook seems to be a very common cause for support calls and mailing issues. However, since Outlook is a 3rd party product, we are unable to deeply diagnose issues that it may be facing. However, you can determine a lot of information from the logs, by enabling a lesser known feature of Outlook - Logging. To enable Logging in Outlook, you can visit this page or follow the steps below: Enable logging To enable logging, follow the steps for your version of Outlook. Microsoft Outlook 2013 and Microsoft Outlook 2010 On the File tab, click Options. In the Outlook Options dialog box, click Advanced. Microsoft Outlook 2007 and earlier versions On the Tools menu, click Options. Click the Other tab. Click the Advanced Options button. Select the Enable mail logging (troubleshooting) check box.
