Join Now Hi all, Having a problem adding a pst file to Outlook http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/msoffice/forum/msoffice_other-mso_win10/error-code-0x8000ffff-in-outlook-2016-while-adding/3141c826-a49f-4dcc-95f4-e240223f734f 2016 64bit, have tried both by importing and by data file add in Mail, both result in "An Unknown Error ocurred error code 0x8000ffff." The message comes when in Mail Setup you click on add in the data file tab before you browse to the file, so it looks like a problem with Mail setup. There are no records in any event log relating https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/1296754-cannot-add-pst-an-unknown-error-ocurred-error-code-0x8000ffff to this. The pst file was created by Outlook 2016 yesterday and passes Scanpst with no errors, I have tried to add it on three different machines and get the same error. I have ran office repair, tried a new mail profile and Outlook /safe, but get the same result. Google has nothing to offer on this error that I can find. Any help would be appreciated. Before the installation I uninstalled the trial https://forums.slipstick.com/threads/15906-cant-create-a-data-file/ version of Outlook 2007. When I start Outlook it gives me the following error message: "Unable to open your default e-mail folders...To add a date file...double-click the Mail icon in Control Panel". I try to "Add" a new data file using the Mail applet but I get the following error message: "An unknown error occured, error code: 0x80070002". I've tried to create a new Profile using the Mail applet and I get the following error message: outlook 2013 "There was an error locating one of the items needed to complete this operation. It might have been deleted". Does anyone have an explanation and a solution to this problem? Thanks. Jul 20, 2009 Flag Post #1 Share Brian Tillman Senior Member "John D UK"
