Unplug for 30 seconds then replug, clean the cartridge's contacts, check and make sure the encoder strip is not out of place behind the carriage. Do a full cleaning of the print head canon mx410 printer error 5100 manually:(1) Open the printer(2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.(3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head.(4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.(5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges(6) Try to print something nowIf none of that works, most likely you need a new print head. Thanks,Rob Robert Preston and 2 other Printers Specialists are ready to help you Ask your own question now Customer: replied6 years ago. exactly where is the print head located. Occasionally an error code is a matter of a crossed signal between the Canon ink jet printer and the computer. To lubricate it you will need to remove the right panel from the devise. Once the panel is removed rub a little white grease along the sliders while taking care not to get any grease on the small wipers or the black caps. Once this is done, replace the panel, plug devise back in and see if the error 5100 has cleared. 3) Paper Jammed Odds are greatest a rogue piece of paper has nested itself in like a rat in a hays
goes to the neutral position when I open the printer, so the printhead can move. The device doesn't seem to make any grinding/clicking http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/46170 noises. Canon suggested turning the device off for 1 minute ... which of course didn't fix anything. So, can anyone tell me (a) What causes this problem; and (b) How can I fix it. Respond to this 0 I just got mine going again by following advice about another MP found in the inkjet forum. Try opening the scanner part as if you were changing printer error the ink cartridges. To the left of center, about 1/3 of the way toward the back is a switch activated by a small plastic piece hanging from the bottom of the scanner. Push down on the switch (it was very easy to activate it on mine), then try doing a copy. That made a successful copy for me, then I closed it up and it seems printer error 5100 to be working (after I changed the low ink cartridges it was even readable). Hope this helps. by rjmccorkle on Mar 26, 2007 at 10:50am Add comment Please sign in to comment Thanks for the tip, but when I tried the suggestion, I had no luck whatsoever. It seems that the cartridge unit sequencing is mixed up at the start of the copy. I soaked the area using rubbing aclohol, and drained a ton of ink. Still, it seems that something is missing from all those clicks and movements that come with the start of a normal print or copy.I inspected closely, and there is no indication of anything being broken off or bent.Does anybody have an idea? - Anonymous 0 I am having a problem finding the switch that you are talking about.
