Get your Network Admin geek to clear 'the print queue' for that printer. The geek should know what you mean. Once the queue is cleared, then re-install the netcard, connect the cables and power up the printer. If you get the same problems, then I'm afraid it is a formatter change.RegardsTrev by unknown on Mar 15, 2007 at 1:02pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Trev,The JetDirect can cause 79 errors, so if the printer works with it removed and fails with it installed then it still might be the JetDirect. The 4050TN would have shipped with either a JetDirect 600N or 605N, I'm not sure which, it's possible that a 615N is installed. The 79 error is one of the known issues with the 615N.If the card happens to be a 615N HP is still sending free replacements. by Stephen on Mar 15, 2007 at 2:12pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I hear what you say, Stephen but..... if a fully operating netcard, on power up. and while initialising,

If that doesnt work try swapping the formatter PCA with another hewlett packard from a known good printer. After the cold http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/1121 reset, remove the card (with the printer off), and see if the 79 error goes away. it could also be a bad stick of memory...Email me at [emailprotected]..i have several cards and/or memory sticks for sale (fairly cheap). chris by chris on Jul 20, 2004 at 4:03pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Guys, the cold reset thing works perfectly. I just resolved an error with the cold reset thanks to http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/posts/20860 you guys. Point to note when cold resetting; Put the printer off and remove the jet direct Power the printer and Press the Go button once. Don't press and hold the Go button when the printer is starting/initializing. (This halts the initializing process and you will stay there till the second coming of Jesus if you are expecting to see something.) The panel should tell you that, configurations are being set to factory defaults, then the offline screen appears. Put the printer off and fix the jet direct back in. Power the printer and watch the 79.00fe error disappear. Great!! by unknown on Aug 18, 2004 at 8:00am Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I was having a semi-related problem with my LaserJet 4050tn (Laser Jet 4050 tn for the searchers :) )My problem was I had a previous static internal IP set on this printer (192.168.3.110), but when I had to change my router out to get a whole network back online in an emergency (long story), I needed to get this printer onto the 192.168.1.x network.I followed the instructions of turning off the machine, removing the card, doing to cold reboot by holding down Go on the until while powering up, waiting until "Offline" appeared, turning the unit back off, re-inserting th

Thread Starter Joined: Oct 9, 2003 Messages: 15 On our network we have a machine that is constantly having printer errors (79.00FE) and it seems to only happen when trying to print a pdf file. We are not running LPRng and we have changed out the jet direct card. Could it be a problem with the post script levels? Krackerjack, Nov 6, 2003 #1 Sponsor Alex Ethridge Joined: Apr 10, 2000 Messages: 8,790 Personally, I think this is a networking problem and would probably have been best posted there. Aside from that little bit of (questionable) wisdom, I really can't help; but, I'm going to follow this thread because it sounds interesting. Try this. Alex Ethridge, Nov 6, 2003 #2 Krackerjack It's My Birthday! Thread Starter Joined: Oct 9, 2003 Messages: 15 lol...wasnt really sure where to post this one but this seemed to me like the most likely. I also almost forgot to post what printer it is using. HP LJ 4050n useing a HP 4000 SERIES PS driver ::edit:: thanks alex, I have chked out the local groups and google to no avail.. the only thing I found that kinda relates was almost the identical problem and they had to keep converting the PDF to an L1 postscript but there should be no reason to do this when the printer supports level 2. Plus these people using this printer arn't the brightest crayons in the box. Krackerjack, Nov 6, 2003 #3 Rockn Joined: Jul 29, 2001 Messages: 21,335 If there is a problem only printing a pdf try a different driver like the 5e instead of the PS driver. The HP drivers install generally installs a complete set of drivers including PCL and Post Script. Rockn, Nov 6, 2003 #4 Alex Ethridge Joined: Apr 10, 2000 Messages: 8,790 Well, this problem is really one I never have been in a situation to encounter; but, from the first two pages brought up at Google, this appears to be a more commong problem than HP would care to admit and unique to HP Laserjets only and no other brand. These companies have a tendency to play dumb until they have a solution. They would rather have you wondering what/where the problem is than to know for sure that it is their equipment. Alex Ethridge, Nov 6, 2003 #5 Rockn Joined: Jul 29, 2001 Messages: 21,335 It's their drivers that are at fault not the hardware. They probably don't want to take the time to re-write all of their PS drivers, but from what I hav
