again several times and got the same results. I have a PDF manual on CD and found the same suggestions given by moe hewlett packard in 2008. I removed and cleaned the fuser because it solved my error problems before but it didn't help this time. The manuel didn't give a specific description for this error code.One thing I forgot to mention. Do you think it conflicts with an eleven year old printer? If so, I don't know how to get back to the former version. I do have one Time Machine backup from before this update but don't know how to go about changing only the HP software. Maybe apple can help me. If so remove it with the power off and power on the printer and then go to the information menu and see if you can do internal prints. If you can there is the possibility the network card has an issue. I printed a HP read me on firmware. It printed all 16 pages and then the error happened. I was about to print a configuration page and then I heard the sound of a relay and the error displayed. So it doesn't seem to be a network communication problem but could still be. I will try your suggestion in the morning but I will go back to the manual to look again at the possible causes list. Get your Network Admin geek to clear 'the print queue' for 79.00fe printer error that printer. The geek should know what you mean. Once the queue is cleared, then re-install the netcard, connect the cables and power up the printer.If you get the same problems, then I'm afraid it is a formatter change.RegardsTrev by unknown on Mar 15, 2007 at 1:02pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 Trev,The JetDirect can cause 79 errors, so if the printer works with it removed and fails with it installed then it still might be the JetDirect.The 4050TN would have shipped with either a JetDirect 600N or 605N, I'm not sure which, it's possible that a 615N is installed.The 79 error is one of the known issues with the 615N.If the card happens to be a 615N HP is still sending free replacements. by Stephen on Mar 15, 2007 at 2:12pm Add comment Please sign in to comment 0 I hear what you say, Stephen but..... if a fully operating netcard, on power up. and while initialising, gets a load of garbage (thats stuck in the print queue) sent to it, it will have a 'stroke' and (normally) give a 49.xxxx error. If the garbage is removed from the print queue BEFORE power up and doesn't cause a 49 error and the printer becomes ready.and then a subsequent print command causes a 79, I would have to look to the formatter being at fault.Thats the reasoning behind the response that I gave.79 errors are as rare as hens teeth in my world, I've probably seen 2 79 errors in 8 y
