This discussion is locked Sue Boyles Level 1 (5 points) Q: Pictwpstops -9783 printer error I have been researching this for days now. I have tried every solution posted on the web including Print Repair Center. I can print to my printer directly but I can't print through my iproof rip. I would think that is the problem but people are getting this error out of quark, acrobat, indesign, freehand to every printer imagineable. That leads me to believe it is an operating system error.Somewhere is a script that people point to at allosx.com but the site has been down for some time now.A lot of people are saying it is a font issue, but I have about 9 basic fonts open between classic and panther, and I'm trying to print from PDFs as well as Quark and Indesign. Can someone out there help? Have a look at my recent posting for fix that worked for me, it has something to do with the panther install cd not running a script.Hope it helps you Helpful (0) Reply options Link to this post This site contains user submitted content, comments and opinions and is for informational purposes only. the machines in my production department: can't create PictWPSDoc from private/var/spool/cups/d00625-001'.ERROR during execution of pictwpstops. Error number -9783 Two machines are Windtunnel G4s and two are G5 1.6s The G4s are on 10.2.8 and G5s are 10.3.6. They connect to a Xerox EX 12 RIP on a Doc 12 printer via IP Printing. (appletalk and Rondezvous are toast, too) but they'll all print fine from Classic. I've read about this problem and that there is a script from allosx.com, but that site is dead. I'm trying to avoid completely rebuilding the machines, but it looks bad. Here's what I've done, thus far... Verified and repaired permissions Ran fsck -f and fsck -fy in single user mode Ran Print Center https://discussions.apple.com/thread/139170?start=0&tstart=0 Repair and Printer Setup Repair Reinstalled (in place) OS 10.3 on one G5 Upgraded one G4 to 10.3.6 Reinstalled the printer with new PPD from Xerox Upgraded the RIP syestem. Now, I've got 32 other machines that are unaffected and I'm hoping it's not something viral. Anyone have any suggestions? Error number -9783 I have looked all over the net for the answer to this. Everyone points to a script on a web site that doesn't exist any more, allosx.com, which doesn't help anyone.
