A SL, Feb 27, 2010 #4 Scott Davey Messages: 2 Solution I got the -31000 error just like others in this forum. One suggestion elsewhere was to restart the printer - almost too simple to be true. I looked at my printer and it had an error light, so I restarted it, cleared my printer queue (on the mac side) and then resent the job from windows. This worked for me. Still no idea what -31000 is, but it's probably a OSX/CUPS thing. Tip: when searching google, the minus sign excludes results for the following word. So, you should enclose the error number in quotes like this "-31000" to get the

I have tried turning the printer off/on, my Mac OS 10.6.8 ( attached vis printer error USB cable) off and on, removing the HP 8500A Premium from my system, adding it back in, and printing to 2 other HP printers remotely connected via wireless. All other types of formatted documents including WORD and PAGES print correctly, and timely with no problem.I am using Adobe reader 10.1.4 which has worked with no problem printer error number til now. Hello, my name is XXXXX XXXXX I am here to assist you.If your printer is working fine with other pdf files it may be something in that one that the printer wont recognize or the file is corrupt in some way. You can try switching to preview view and then print from there and see if that works(mac preview the pdf file). Its an issue with adobe for mac that they havent quite worked out yet(if ever, been there for like 10 years). You can also try removing your printer from the printers menu and then running an update from the apple menu. Then readd the printer again. That sometimes works with this error but most of the time not. Also try resetting your print system on the mac, that may help.Resetting the printing system in OS X LionTo use the Reset Printing System function in Lion, follow these steps: Choose System Preferences from the Apple menu. Choose Print & Scan from the View menu. Hold down the Option key while clicking the "-" (Remove printer) button. If no printers are currently added, hold down the Control key while clicking in the box that appears above the "+" (Add printer) button, then choose Reset printing system… from the contextual menu.Resetting the printing system in Mac OS X v10.5.x or 10.6.xTo use the Reset Printing System function in Mac OS X v10.5.x or 10.6.x, follow these steps
