I am aware that this is a known issue, but I'm wondering if it has already been fixed. I've researched it but to no avail. I read a thread (can't link to it) but it didn't seem to help much, either. I tried both 1.6 and 1.7 versions but both had the same problem. Now I'm stuck at the Creepy Castle boss. I did use a lot of saves, unfortunately, but I don't recall using any cheats at all. It seems most people who have encountered this problem were at Creepy Castle or Crystal Caves. Last edited by legendarylemming; 10th April 2011 at 07:35 PM. Cahos Rahne Veloza Active Member I get this error message when playing some N64 games on Project64: What problem is this specifying? Also, when this error occurs, Project64 sometimes crashes. Cahos Rahne Veloza, Jun 20, 2008 #1 marcy Guest I'm using Project64 a lot and never seen this. On which games do you get that error? marcy, Jun 20, 2008 #2 Cahos Rahne Veloza Active Member Well, I used to get it on Castlevania64 (but now I no longer get it there), on Wheel of Fortune & on Tetrisphere Cahos Rahne Veloza, http://forum.pj64-emu.com/showthread.php?t=2391 Jun 20, 2008 #3 marcy Guest sounds odd ... I'll do what I can. marcy, Jun 20, 2008 #4 Cahos Rahne Veloza Active Member I've finally figured out what that error is! apparently when an N64 ROM isn't 100% fully compatible with Project64, the game can crash at one point, corrupting your save files also, so when that error occurs, you must delete your save file then restart https://forum.romulation.net/threads/project64-sp-dma-write-error-what-is-it-how-do-you-fix-it.8058/ the emulator & your game, if at the same point in the game the initial crash occured repeats, then that's probably the part the emulator is having issues with. You can check if your games are 100% fully supported by clicking on "file", then select "directory", Project64 will list all your games along with the compatibility notes & what issues it may have with them. Cahos Rahne Veloza, Jun 22, 2008 #5 marcy Guest First of all sorry, I hadn't the possibility to reply you earlier. I downloaded the Roms you mentioned and they run nearly perfect, even if I use worse plugins. I don't know exactly, but it's possible that the dma-controller wants to write something in your ram and don't know where the entry belongs to. I don't know how to fix it. Try out some plugins or change the emulator. I recommend Nineteen64, it's almost as good as Project64 and yo

"New Game" 4. If you get project 64 tired of waiting for the stupid cinematics you can just keep pressing A. 5. SP DMA read error! No saved state necessary. 6. only happens with LLE gfx, audio could be HLE doesn't matter The fascinating thing is that when the SP DMA errors start varies...sometimes it starts right after you press START button to get through the menu, sometimes it happens after you begin a new game. Interpreters shouldn't be giving random/unpredictable results like this though I project 64 sp would have thought? Then again I'm not really a R4300 person. cxd4 commented Feb 7, 2015 Depending on whether or not project64 is able to associate this with any core CPU/interpreter faults within pj64 itself, I will most likely end up self-assigning this as a RSP interpreter bug with unimplemented SP DMA address range handling. I don't even have this implemented in my own RSP plugin actually.... LegendOfDragoon commented Feb 7, 2015 Honestly, I don't even press a button. I just disable frame limiter and the error happens early on in the intro. The error happens on 1964 1.1 as well. Owner project64 commented Feb 7, 2015 Interpreters shouldn't be giving random/unpredictable results like this though I would have thought? yes, they should be consistent if all the input is the same, if you eeprom is different, or you start pressing keys timing and code paths will be different. Also if fixed audio timing is not on then that can also cause inconstancy. cxd4 commented Feb 7, 2015 Okay in that case new steps to reproduce: 1. load ROM 2. just sit there without pressing START button until SP DMA :) Seems to be consistent every time this time, with no key presses on my part, and I have just turned on Fixed Audio Timing anyway. So I guess that means the ROM really is attempting to SP DMA an unmapped RCP memory ad
