them to close it. If the database was not closed cleanly (Access or a computer crashed), then you can try to Compact and Repair the file. I have also noticed that if the file is opened or put in a read-only state at any time, it might get 'stuck' like that. Solved access database opens in read only mode Posted on 2013-08-01 VMware MS Applications 1 Verified Solution 13 Comments 3,661 Views Last Modified: 2013-10-25 I have two computers on a workgroup network. Both pc's run Windows 7. An Access read only DB is located and shared on PC A. It's shared with "everyone" having "full control". A shortcut to the shared Access DB is located on PC B's desktop. When I open the Access database on PC B, it opens in read only mode. When I open it from PC A it opens just fine. How can I fix this so the file doesn't open in read only mode? thank you. 0 Question by:PCGalOfCal Facebook read only error Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 28 Active 1 day ago Best Solution byasavener This thread (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5954982/access-database-opens-as-read-only) suggests explicitly opening the database read only and then opening it with full access. 1.
