I now want to modified it but it says it's ReadOnly so I cannot change anything. How can I change this please? It's an access 2000 file opened with access 2007. The Database Is Read Only Access 2003

If the database was not closed cleanly (Access or a computer crashed), then you can try to Compact and Repair the file. I have also noticed that if the file is opened or put in a read-only state at any time, it might get 'stuck' like that. So try this: Open Access, but no database Open the file in question, but explicitly open it in read-only mode (the 'Open' button is actually a dropdown button. Use the button to open read-only Close the file (but not Access) Open the file again, but open normally. Not sure it that's a bug or a feature, but I've seen it frustrate many a user. share|improve this answer answered May 11 '11 at 18:30 Steve Mallory 3,19611625 add a comment| up vote 3 down vote Another thing to watch for is when someone ha

Microsoft Access 2013 Read Only
Posts Read-Only Error while opening the database Hi, I have this strange problem from 2 days. I couldn't figure it out where i need to remove security. Error: The database 'test' http://stackoverflow.com/questions/5954982/access-database-opens-as-read-only is read-only.You won't be able to save changes made to data or object definition in this database. This is really old database. It is in access 2003.I make sure the Read-only option is not checked out when you right click and go to properties. Also, I try to import in to separate new database. Then it is working fine for my user account but http://www.access-programmers.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=201193 not others. They are still getting the error. It is not removing the security completely. I did Alt+F11 and went to see the code window. There is nothing in there. Please help me to remove the security completely. The end users need to enter the data ASAP. Pay attention that it isn't the changes you make in the current one but you have to import everything into a non-secured one. __________________ Free tools, code and samples here: To view links or images in signatures your post count must be 10 or greater. Everytime I open up my Access database, it says "This database has been opened read-only. You can only change data in linked tables. To make design changes, save a copy of the database." This DB is saved on my desktop. ( I'm getting familiarized with Access 07 so I'm running some test DB's. ) Anybody know how I can get rid of this? Thanks in advance! Close Access down. Check in the directory for a 1kb file with the same name but an .ldb extension (for mdb databases) or .laccdb (for the 2007 format). Delete that file; it's a locking file that should go away when you close down normally but can remain if you have had a crash or used a force quit. Let us know how you go.
