How To Open Access Database In Read Only Mode
Stack Overflow Community Stack Overflow is a community of 4.7 million programmers, just like you, helping each other. Join them; it only takes a microsoft access 2013 read only minute: Sign up READ ONLY pop-up when opening Access mdb, but in fact it is not according to Properties up vote 0 down vote favorite Any idea on why I open certain MS Access mdb file(abc.mdb), msgbox pop-up saying that it https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/324666 is READ ONLY, but in fact it is not when I right-click the mdb to view "Properties"? The folder where mdb locates can write folder/txt files in it. I copy a dummy mdb file into that folder and this READ ONLY msgbox does not pop-up in that dummy mdb. The READ ONLY issue seems only exist in ABC.mdb I did not see any .ldb file in that folder. Any idea on that? ms-access readonly ms-access-2003 share|improve this question asked Jul 16 '12 at http://stackoverflow.com/questions/11508253/read-only-pop-up-when-opening-access-mdb-but-in-fact-it-is-not-according-to-pro 16:10 Tsui John 44116 Any of these support.microsoft.com/kb/324666 ? –Fionnuala Jul 16 '12 at 16:12 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote Couple of suggestions (in order): Check the security permissions in the File Properties dialog. Make sure Administrators or your login has full control. Repair and Compact the database file. Run this command: "C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office11\MSACCESS.EXE" "DatabaseFile.mdb" /nostartup /repair /compact Try opening in a different folder like your desktop. If all else fails.. Create a new access database in the same folder and import all access objects from the Read Only database and test again. share|improve this answer answered Jul 17 '12 at 2:00 Matstar 492 add a comment| Your Answer draft saved draft discarded Sign up or log in Sign up using Google Sign up using Facebook Sign up using Email and Password Post as a guest Name Email Post as a guest Name Email discard By posting your answer, you agree to the privacy policy and terms of service. Close Access down. Check in the directory for a 1kb file with the same name but an .ldb extension (for mdb databases) or .laccdb (for the 2007 format). Delete that file; it's a locking file that should go away when you close down normally but can remain if you have had a crash or used a force quit. Let us know how you go.
