What have i done and how do i fix it? Joe R 16:23 21 Mar 07 Currantbun, double click on the clock in the system tray, and then sort out your time and date settings. keef66 16:27 21 Mar 07 Are you saying it then doesn't get as far as loading windows? (hence no system tray or clock)Sounds like you need to go into the bios and correct time and date settings there. You usually enter bios (=Setup) by tapping Del or F1 repeatedly as the thing starts. Cancel Nate S Rep: 1 Posted: 07/18/2011 Options Permalink History Error 0271 probably means your computer lost all power, and lost the time/date. Just press F1 the second anything comes across the display and it should start the BIOS setup utility. Set the date and time, and let the battery charge awhile. Error 2010 is another pain that I just dealt with. It involves certain machines with a strange bios that looks for firmware that is present in very few hard drives. The easiest way to fix this is to flash the BIOS with an identical bios that doesn't have this error. Here's the link... http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Problem_wi... Two days ago I did a fresh installation of Red Hat 8.0. When I rebooted the Linux for the first time everything was ok. Then when I ve tried to reboot the PC for the second time above msg appeared. ERROR 0271 Check date and time settings {esc} proceed {f1} enter setup The problem is that from then on keyboard is not responding at all. Before the error msg appears on the monitor, keyboard is responding normally. So if I press F1 before the error msg, I can see the "preparing to run system setup...." but soon after that error msg appears and the whole system hangs. I found on Phoenix web site that I need to enter the bios setup and adjust date and time (obviously!) but I just simply cannot enter the bloody bios setup because sytem hangs. Please help me. Thanks! 22-10-2002,07:28 AM #2 Babe Ruth Guest Re: Bios 0271 Check Date and Time setting Error Redstar, As you say: Error 0271: Check date and time settings means that the real-time clock has reverted to a default date and time, and you need to enter the system setup program (BIOS) and change the date and time back to the correct settings. If the problem continues, replace the battery for the bios/cmos on the motherboard (often a small round 'watch' type battery). Now it may be easier to replace the battery first and then see if this gives you the opportunity to go into the BIOS and reset the system setings (they will probably ALL revert to default settings).
