it and after three attempts it locks me out. Can someone please help me determine what it is I have to replace? Is it the Li-Ion battery (Fru P/N: 02K6627 / ASM P/N: 02K6621)? or is there like a CMOS chip somewhere https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-T400-T500-and-newer-T/Error-0271-Real-Time-Clock-Error-Check-Date-and-Time-settings/td-p/1018793 I have to replace or is it the small Panasonic CR2032 lithium round battery that is connected to the motherboard (i think) once the battery is taken out (IBM P/N 02K6541 / FRU P/N: 02K6572).. If I can identify what needs to be replaced then I can buy the part to do this.. if someone can help it would be sincerely appreciated as i'm hopeless when it comes to computers/laptops. Thank you. The instructions to reset the cmos password should be in it. http://www-306.ibm.com/pc/support/s...downloadsDriversLandingPage.vm&validate=false "Mandy Cuthbert" <> wrote in message news:4402ae64$0$30674$... > Hi. For such a small component there's a ridiculous amount of dis-assembly involved to get at it. There's a step-by-step guide here for the ThinkPad T41 but your model may differ slightly: http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Repairing+IBM+ThinkPad+T41+... Note which way up it is (positive side up, or negative side up), remove it, then take it to a battery or PC components shop and buy one that's the same size and real time clock voltage. Put the new battery in the same way up as the old one was. m 0 l Ubrales a c 161 V Motherboard February 4, 2013 11:34:42 AM mangesh shinde said:Hello, date & time not set properly & get the pc shutdown ,then time & date is back date When you restart and get the date and time back, do you need to adjust the date and time to current values? If you have to do this then the RTC (Real Time Clock) aka CMOS battery is bad; it is a CR2032 lithium cell. I tried to replace this in a Compac laptop and it was not worth the trouble. If on restart the date and time is correct, then right click on the 'time' logo on the taskbar (lower right of screen) and make sure that the time is synchronized with Internet Time or some other appropriate standard.
