I really disliked it when they started putting window's operating systems on cnc controllers. last place I worked we had two Mazak lathes. and older one with T32 controller and a newer one with the window's operating system.. when it came time to get rid of one I opted to get rid of the newer one.. which we did. I could fire up both machines at the same time, go get coffee, come back and start making parts on the older T32 controller while the newer machine was still trying to finish up the booting process.
