I have initialised the keys (and this works), but when I try to open a Notes Document I get the message "Server Error : Realtime service error retrieving external record". Also, I can create a new doc in the notes DB using the "create" option, but when I close the doc and try to save changes I get the message "Server Error : Realtime service error inserting external record". I know that it is not a key conflict. The Access Database has no usernames and passwords, so I dint think this is the problem. Might it be a permissions (ACL) problem on the Notes-side ? Any ideas greatly appreciated. Victor Return to top DECS - Realtime service error retri... (Victor Reynolds... 30.Jul.02) . . RE: DECS - Realtime service error r... (Ken Fitts 30.Jul.02) . . . . We have set up the appropriate connection and activities document in Decs Admin. The form is set up and the fields are mapped http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/46dom.nsf/d6091795dfaa5b1185256a7a0048a2d0/af7dadb4dc0e32b285256c060040f104?OpenDocument to the right fields with the External Field Name, External MetaObject, and Connection Resource. However, when we run the "Import External Records" we are receiving the following error: Real time service error inserting external record, connector 'notes', method - Insert - (1702). The Decs activity is set to monitor Create, Open, Update, Delete. In previous versions, we have had to resign the Decs Admin database. We did that here and the default ACL is editor. http://www-10.lotus.com/ldd/nd6forum.nsf/55c38d716d632d9b8525689b005ba1c0/9f1b2f3e8e6ed75f85256cdf00754e27?OpenDocument The ACL for the Administrator that signed the db is Manager on the Decs Admin database and the application database. Anyone experience this or know of a solution? Thanks Cindy Return to top DCR's and Real time service error (C L Groth 4.Mar.03) . . Updated Info (C L Groth 4.Mar.03) . . If the connection fails (for example, if the backend relational database is unavailable), it continues to fail even after the backend database is restarted. Example: 1. real time Create an ODBC Connection Document. 2. Create a Virtual Fields Activity Document with the ODBC Connection that you created above. 3. Start the Virtual Fields activity. 4. You can open a Lotus Notes document (which is the expected behavior). 5. Restart the backend relational database that you connected to with your ODBC Connection Document. 6. real time service When you try to open a Notes document, the following error displays: "Server Error: Realtime service error retrieving external record." This is expected behavior because the backend relational database is not running. 7. After the backend relational database is restarted, you still get the same error when you try to open a Notes document. This is not expected behavior because the backend relational database was restarted and is working fine. Answer This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# KSAA6PD5JR. Workaround Once the ODBC connection fails, you must restart the Virtual Fields activity even though the backend relational database was restarted and is working.
