Sql Error: 17002, Sqlstate: 08006
AM Hi,this issue has been discussed already but none of the solutions or circumstances seem to be similar to mine.I have W 7 64bit, SQL Developer 3.2.20.09 and jdk1.7.0_40.I can connect to "Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - 64bit Production"but I cannot get any connection to "Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.3.0 - 64bit Production" and get vendor code 17002 mac the aformentioned error message. It's not an connectivity issue as I can connect to the database from a different application running on my W7 machine or from SQLDeveloper on my XP machine. My Oracle Client seems to be "SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.3.0 Production".Any ideas or suggestions? Many thanks, Rob 36391Views Tags: none (add) This content has been marked as final. Vendor Code 17002 Network Adapter Sql Developer
Fix SQL Developer vendor error 17002 Oracle Database Tips by Burleson Consulting December sql developer vendor code 17008 15, 2015 Question: I was trying to connect to Oracle through SQL developer, and I see this error. io exception: vendor code 12505 the network adaptor could not establish the connection Vendor code 17002 Answer: In your case the "Vendor code 17002" is the equivalent of the ORA-12541 error: It's most likely that your listener is down, or has an https://community.oracle.com/thread/2601351 improper port or service name. From the docs: ORA-12541: TNS no listener Cause: Listener for the source repository has not been started. Action: Start the Listener on the machine where the source repository resides. Basically, SQL Developer could not find the listener. First check the tnsnames.ora file and ensure that it points to the correct server and port. If the Forms server is on another machine, test the TNS resolve with tnsping from the http://www.dba-oracle.com/t_sql_developer_vendor_error_17002.htm command prompt. Finally, check the listener. # lsnrctl status This should show the status of the listener and the services it is listening for. Remember that when you run SQL*Plus on the database server, it does not need the listener to connect unless you specify the database tnsnames.ora entry. You can use the lsnrctl status command to verify that the listener is down, and lsnrctl start to start your listener. If you are on Windows, also verify that the listener service is running. Burleson is the American Team Note: This Oracle documentation was created as a support and Oracle training reference for use by our DBA performance tuning consulting professionals. 17002 "Io Exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" October 5, 2010Technical StuffOracle 11g R2chris If you search for the Oracle error "Io Exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" (ORA-17002) you http://www.christoph-jahn.com/?p=1074 will find plenty of discussion on the web. It usually comes down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zY1AUhAeFSI to what the message says, that is a network issue. But the error can also be caused by e.g. incompatible jar files. In my case, however, I was trying to access a 11g R2 instance from SQL Developer and during initial setup everything had worked. And local access, sql developer also with SQL Developer, worked absolutely fine. Solution: Replace "simple" DB hostname with the fully qualified one. I am not sure why this changed the behavior. I can think of either a DNS setup issue (although my search list included the domain) or some kind of reverse lookup logic that is being applied. Anyway, I wanted to share this finding and vendor code 17002 also record it for my own future use. Even, I changed localhost to my machine name, it worked, and it was still working when I reverted to localhost. There must be some strange network behaviour beneath. enxel says: August 17, 2011 at 19:33 thank you very much!
