It http://www.sevenforums.com/windows-updates-activation/305140-error-126-cannot-start-service-windows-modules-installer.html seems the Windows Module Installer Module cannot be started, as below - so I've taken the liberty to push diagnostics a bit further, all below as well. Apologies for the French, let me know if you need anything translated. The last step is ICACLS command saying "c:\windows\CSC\trustedinstaller.*: Access Denied" ... and stopping there. Any help would be greatly appreciated from this side of the pond! Thank you in advance, Kind regards, Thierry Code: C:\Windows\System32>net start trustedinstaller Le service Programme d'installation pour les modules Windows démarre. Both have a Manual Startup in Services, but the COM+ Event System does not register as started. I have checked two other machines, running xp, and both indicate that this service has started, system error which leads me to think that I have a problem. If I chose to start the service, I receive the following error message:- ‘Could not start the COM+ Event system service on Local Computer Error 126 The specified module could not be found’ If I start the COM+ System Application, I receive the following error message:- ‘Could not start the COM+ System Application on Local Computer Error 1067 system error 126 The process terminated unexpectedly’ My machine is logging a volume shadow copy service error and a Service Control error every time my machine has started. I have run sfc /scannow, which found no errors. Is there a way rectifying this problem?
