to system error 998 (Pervasive ODBC Client Interface Reply Contact Greetings, I'm getting the above error on a Windows Server 2003 R2 when trying to open an ODBC connection to my system error 998 oracle odbc driver Databases. The Control Center connects fine. Any suggestions? Thanks!Brent Jenkins 12-11-2009 9:19 PM In reply to Mirtheil Joined on 07-08-2007 Posts 4,733 Re: Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 998 (Pervasive ODBC Client Interface Reply Contact The system error 998 usually means "Invalid access to memory location." Is there something unique about this Windows machine? I've seen that error once loadlibrary failed with error 998 invalid access to memory location fix before on a system that had a program called Ceedo (Not sure what it was for). A few questions:- Is the 998 coming from your application or the ODBC Data Source Administrator?- Are you logged in locally or is this a remote desktop / Terminal Server session?- Are you logged in as a local Administrator? - What are the registry permissions on the HKLM\Software\ODBC keys? - Is the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\Pervasive ODBC Engine Interface\Driver pointing to the correct location? 12-11-2009 10:46 PM In reply to BJenkins Joined on 05-14-2008 Posts 16 Re: Specified driver could not be loaded due to system error 998 (Pervasive ODBC Client Interface Reply Contact Thanks for the quick reply. To answer your questions: -ODBC Data Source Administrator -I get the same error via RDP and Citrix Session (All user sessions will be via Citrix) -Yes Full Admin and also tried Power User -Not sure what you mean on this one. I can find the ODBC key but nothing in it relating to Permissions -c:\program files\pervasive software\psql\bin\w3odbcci.dll which is correct 12-12-2009 10:09 AM In reply to Mirtheil Joined on 07-08-2007 Posts 4,733 Re

I start to dislike oracle know ^_^, but I hope I will change my view. Min Edited by: user8866189 on 10/12/2009 14:58 Like Show 0 Likes(0) Actions 16. I have Windows 2003 64 bit, Oracle 10.2 32 bit Client and 64 bit application. After googleing around, I found that there is two versions of odbc datasource administrator: The default one, is 64 bit which we use Start menu for opening it. In order to open the 32 bit version I used: %windir%\SysWOW64\odbcad32.exe. With the help of 32 bit version datasource administrator, I could see my 32 bit odbc driver listed. I extracted this rule of thumb: If your application is 32 bit, then your data source must use Oracle 32 bit client as well. Last words, beware of 3 pieces: 1- your application (which uses DSN definition), 2- Oracle client 3-data source administrator All pieces must have same version, in my case it is 64 bit and therefore I installed 64 bit client.
