When opening start, some icons show and some are just replaced by a black http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-files/file-system-error-65535-windows-8/c20e25e2-8b61-4b06-aa95-a3c740e29a29 square, the same goes for icons inside My Computer where most is just black squares. When I try to run the majority of my programs i get a file system error 65535, which makes it impossible for me to do most of my tasks. I have tried to google for solutions, where most seems to get it working by a sfc /scannow. I had to do this in safemode as https://forums.anandtech.com/threads/windows-8-file-error-65535.2409379/ I can't run the command prompt in Administrator mode as that gives me a file error 65535 as well. The sfc /scannow command confirmed that there were issues, but it were unable to perform any changes so that didn't help me. I have done several chkdsk neither which helped. Some suggested to perform registry changes, but that as well didn't help me and I have as well run ccleaners registry fix which did nothing. So my last thought were to use a windows installer and run a repair or in last case do a clean install. However, I can't even run the windows setup without receiving a file error 65535 which now leaves me without any idea how to proceed. So any welcome in this case is much appreciated. #1 Labze, Nov 21, 2014 Ketchup Lifer Joined: Sep 1, 2002 Messages: 12,641 Likes Received: 12 Labze said: ↑ .... I am an IT person but this has me stumped. Does it seem like a security issue, and if so (even though I am running both Norton 360 and Essentials - no there is no conflict)) what might verify the... (not sure why I could not start as an administrator normally, but this way worked) I then ran sfc /scannow, it claimed to have found some corrupted... nitindinesh 1 user's latest post: file system error 65535 windows 8 Published (2015-03-15 06:26:00) After I log
