account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I am trying to map a P drive and a G drive on a Win7 box on our domain. I can't change the drive letters because every computer in the company has them the same way. When I do a 'net https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/429738-system-error-85-while-mapping-a-drive use' it shows no entries. When I run: net use P: \\server\folder The command completed successfully net use G: \\server\folder2 system error 85 has occurred. The local device name is already in use. When I google http://www.ikangyun.net/Dos_System_Error_85.html system error 85, they all say delete the drives and start over. So I do 'net use * /d', but it doesn't delete any drives other than the P. If I navigate to the folder to map it there, F-J are missing as system error options, even though none are in use. I've joined and quit the domain, the same thing happens either way. Anyone have any ideas how to get the mapping to work to the correct letter? If so can you change the drive system error 85 letter assigned to current G. Is the drive letter that is in use, used by removable devices?
