Solved "System error 53 has occurred" "The network path was not found" Posted on 2008-07-30 OS Security Windows Networking Windows XP 1 Verified Solution 25 Comments 13,693 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-04 Dear all, Since a at least a week and less then a month i have a problem with my portable. The computer name of the portable is Dolphin-P2. I use a tool named goodsync to synchronise a bunch of folders from my main workstation to synch all data to a 'server' and to that portable. To the 'server' it works and to the portable it doesn't. I used following command : net use \\dolphin-p2\c$ to access the main drive. I also tried it with net use \\dolphin-p2\c$ user/passw. But all fail with the message "System error 53 has occurred" "The network path was not found". Doing that with the server works perfectly. Qua software all 3 machines are configured the same: Windows XP professional SP3 fully updated Zonealarm with the intranet as trusted network and the firewall being set to off for the trusted network I also tried to shutdown zonealarm completely on the portable to no avail. The synchronization worked until a short time ago, i didn't notice exactly however when it stopped working but i know for sure from the outlook PST file that was synchronized from my main machine that two weeks ago a successfull synchro still occured. I installed the zonealarm version that was patched for the latest security update of windows. Anyway, the portable can surf on the internet. Which isn't possible if the c
