If I replace \\servername\share with \\ip address\share I get the same error. 0 LVL 25 Overall: Level 25 Windows XP 21 Windows Vista 4 Network Management 1 Message Expert Comment by:slam692008-08-01 thats strange normally this type of issue points to a dns issue but if IP isnt working either it must be something else. do you use net delete before the net use command to ensure the drive is disconnected? 0 Message Author Comment by:TTCLIVE2008-08-01 Yeah. 0 LVL 25 Overall: Level 25 Windows XP 21 Windows Vista 4 Network Management 1 Message Expert Comment by:slam692008-08-01 ok

I setup the unc path \\server\backup and the credentials including the domain name, user id , and password. It tests the creds successful. It says connected. In my case it always seems to say connected. Everything appears fine. I then run a manual backup and after a few gigs of backing up it stops in error. -There was an error transferring data to the backup location -Cannot write to file i/o error -[Windows Error 64] The specified network name is no longer available I have been trying to figure this out for hours.
