System Error 5 Has Occurred Windows 10 Net User Administrator
to vote I am not sure if a virus got to this but at system error 5 windows 10 this point I don't care. The problem is when I use the command:net user administrator /active:yes It comes back system error 5 windows 7 saying Access Denied. My friend forgot her password to her windows 7 user account (admin rights) and is stuck with a standard user account as a result of that. Now she can't install anything http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-security/enabling-hidden-administrator-returns-system-error/1fd4199a-1bee-44a4-93ca-132345495ca3?auth=1 because her account is not a admin account. When I go into safe mode he Administrator account is disabled. I see the account under net users but no matter what technique I use to enable it or reset password it comes back as Access Denied. Any ideas? Thursday, October 27, 2011 5:57 PM Reply | Quote Answers 0 Sign in to vote I've had a look at this, and whilst it is https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/e6100404-773b-4dfc-b1a9-cb587af499ca/net-user-administrator-activeyes-access-denied?forum=w7itprosecurity true that you can access the built-in Administrator account (even if it is disabled) from Safe Mode, you can only do so if there is no other administrative account active on your system. Unfortunately, a forgotten passwordstill means that the administrative account is still there and active, only that you don't have access to it. Access system error is denied” up vote 0 down vote favorite I need to give the administrator 's authorizations to delete a folder, I'm on Windows 7 ultimate x64. To do that I run cmd.exe and run the command below: net user administrator /active:Yes but got the output: Errore di sistema 5. Accesso negato. i.e. "Error 5. Access is denied". I already run the net localgroup Administrators to check either my account is listed among the administrator members, and system error 5 it is. Why do I get this error and how can I give the Administrator's authorization to delete my folder? cmd.exe administrator share|improve this question edited Feb 3 at 13:54 asked Feb 3 at 12:02 robertalrp 13617 You need your account to be in the Administrators group to be able to modify the user account. If you don't have an administrator account then you will need to know who can or, ultimately, resort to, say, a tool to forcibly enable the account by modifying the registry (e.g. Offline NT Password & Registry Editor). –Big Chris Feb 3 at 12:04 1 First of all it is net user administrator /active:Yes (mind the / instead of the \ ), and you have to run it from an elevated command prompt. –Eugen Rieck Feb 3 at 12:34 Thank you. In any case I've been trying both with the "\" and the "/" slash and I got the same output. –robertalrp Feb 3 at 13:27 add a comment| 1 Answer 1 active oldest votes up vote 1 down vote accepted Two things I'm seeing here that could cause this: 1. You are not part of the administrators group or you do not have administrator permissions on the box. 2. You need to run command prompt from an elevated permission level. Also, as Eugen said

The original issue was that he forgot his user password and was locked out at the welcome screen. There was no other account visible. I was able to download and burn a bootable (evil Linux created) password reset disk, find his username and clear the PW. The system booted fine after that. Thinking the administrator account might have a blank password, I pursued that idea, but found no account visible. I used the elevated command prompt screen attempting to enable the hidden account which is, BTW, C:\Windows\system32\net user administrator /active:yesHaving tried this from normal login, safe mode and safe mode with command prompt several times, I've had no success. I'm sure I have the command and syntax correct
