In Vista, I can attach to printers on the domain by opening the \\server\device in RUN and then logging system error on with domain\user and password. If I try to map a network server I get the same dialog box and enter 'domain\user and password. Then I get this error message : The mapped network drive could not be created because the foillowing error has occured : A Device attached to the system is not functioning I can log on system error 5 to Outlook on the Exchange server with same logon and Internet and everything is fine. In the Network, I can see all servers. I tried the promising tip found here : By: Jimmy Brush In: microsoft.public.windows.vista.administration_accounts_passwords Hello, Please try the following steps ... this will change the way Windows Vista authenticates with other computers to the same setting that Windows XP uses. *** These steps change default security settings of Windows Vista. *** The result: your machine will be less secure by changing these settings. - Click Start - Click Control Panel - Click System and Maintenance - Click Administrative Tools - Double-Click Local Security Policy - In the left pane, click the triangle next to Local Policy - In the left pane, click Security Options - In the right pane near the bottom, double-click "Network security: LAN manager authentication level" - Click the drop-down box, and click "Send LM & NTLM responses" - Click OK Even after a reboot, this did not change the situation My System Specs You need to have JavaScript enabled

Re: Error 31: A device attached to the system is not functioning, Windows 7 host, v. 7.1.4 kirk881 Jul 2, 2013 10:48 AM (in response to JSen) I receive an error when the VM first starts."Host USB device connections disabled. The connection to the VMware USB arbitration service was unsuccessful. Please check the status of this service in the Microsoft Management Console." I try and start the usb arbitration service and receive "Error 31". Like I said, this was working fine, and then I started getting this error. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, I have deleted the upperfilters in the registry, I have uninstalled all USB devices in device manager, and nothing works. I don't have the AMD driver, and I don't have the .SYS file in c:\windows\system32 folder.Edit:Unable to use any USB drive in any vm client, USB works on the host OS. I can also map an .ISO as my CDRom.
