Server 2000 install on a PC that has had different versions of SQL Server installed previously, including 2005. I'm assuming this has to do with an incomplete uninstall. Is there a fix or workaround for this? Friday, September 16, 2005 5:24 PM Reply | Quote Answers 5 Sign in to vote Got it! This file was missing :C:\Windows\System32\sqlsrv32.dllbut the registry key HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\SQL Server was still pointing to it.First I tried deleting the key (dumb!) to see system error code 126 oracle odbc if the SQL Server install would fix it, but it didn't. Second try, I replaced the key and the file and that got it.All that before 12 noon PST. Phew! Monday, September 19, 2005 7:18 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote Thank you!!! I had a similar problem after a power hit, and based on your info, found the sqlsrv32.dll file missing as well. Grabbed one off another system, and problem was solved. Thanks again!PS: Gotta love Google for help finding stuff like this!Dwaine Marked as answer by Kalman TothEditor Saturday, November 21, 2009 5:27 PM Thursday, December 08, 2005 10:41 PM Reply | Quote 0 Sign in to vote Had the same problem. I found that driver and setup key under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\SQL Server pointed to c:\winnt instead of c:\windows. Changed them both to c:\windows\..... and voila I can now access my SQL server... If so, installing 2000 after 2005 is not recommended, and probably not supported. If you really need 2000 to work, best to uninstall ALL SQL installations, then install 2000, then 2005 after. Ping a server)2) Try to create an ODBC connection to a SQL Server on the network and test it.3) Check the SQL Server Client Network Utility on your PC and make sure you have the proper protocols enabled (TCP/IP, Named Pipes, etc)4) Make sure that you have the correct port number for your SQL Server you are connecting to..If not create an entry in the SQL Server Client Network Utility for the server and correct port number.Hope this helpsJim Post #202365 sswordssswords Posted Tuesday, July 19, 2005 1:59 PM Ten Centuries Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Wednesday, April 29, 2015 10:19 AM Points: 1,148, Visits: 84 Are you sure you're still on XP SP1? driver could not be loaded due to system error code 126. The ODBC driver name can change depending upon the driver, which you are trying to configure. To resolve this issue, open registry and goto Hkey_Local_Machine\Software\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI\SQL Server In the above case, click on SQL Server folder inside ODBCINST.INI. The folder can vary depending on the driver which you are trying to configure. Change Driver and Setup path to have system32 rather than system in its value. Now you should be able to configure your DSN successfully. Note: Take a backup of the registry key before making any changes.
