the error: The network name cannot be found. This means that the server name or share name is wrong. Looking at your command line, it appears to tbe the latter: '\\STI-GGARCIA\C:\sar\anexoa_error.txt' When you refer to a remote disk, you must specify a share name, C: will never work. You can try: '\\STI-GGARCIA\C$\sar\anexoa_error.txt' However, in more recent versions of Windows, administrative shares (that is, implicit shares on the root level) are disabled. You may have set up a share explicitly on STI-GGARCIA. The drive P: is a shared drive on Windows SQL Server from LINUX via Samba Share and it was set up by executing the following command, EXEC xp_cmdshell 'net use P: "\lnxusanfsd01\Data" Password /user:username /Persistent:Yes' Any help on this would be highly appreciated sql-server stored-procedures samba sql-server-agent bulk-load share|improve this question asked Oct 21 '13 at 10:17 user1345260 46341228 1 Looks like a permissions issue. The SQL Server Agent usually runs as a different user / with different permissions compared to when you run it manually. Does the Agent work if the file is in a local directory? Is the the Agent also running the net use command? –acfrancis Oct 21 '13 at 10:50 The agent is not running the net use command. I haven't tested that as I don't have RDP access to the SQL Server –user1345260 Oct 21 '13 at 10:53 Well, does it work if you add the net use cmd to the Agent job? Without that, I'm pretty sure the P: drive will only be available in your username's Windows session, not the Agent's. –acfra

Importing .txt file using BCP in a .vbs script Rate Topic Display Mode Topic Options Author Message Patrick WhitsonPatrick Whitson Posted Friday, September 16, 2005 10:08 AM Forum Newbie Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Friday, March 24, 2006 8:19 AM Points: 3, Visits: 1 Hello all, I am new to the forum and have a question about running BCP through a VBScript. Currently we are testing importing a .txt file on a server path in the .vbs file using ADO connection. We are able to open the connection and delete records from the table, but when it comes to sending the BCP through ADO it gives an 8004e014 error. The error has told us that the file does not exist or path not found, but we have access to that folder and the file IS there. Any suggestions on using BCP through ADO? Heer is the script:Dim cnDim strSQL'create ADO connection and recordset objectsSet cn=CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")'Open a connection to sqlservercn.open = "Provider=SQLOLEDB.1;Data Source=MHP-DB1;Initial Catalog=FACTSdata;user id=bills;password=potgod84"'clean up tablestrSQL="DELETE FROM tblMemberTest"cn.execute strSQL'load table from file using BULK INSERT statement'This is where it's bombingstrSQL ="BULK INSERT FACTSdata.dbo.tblMemberTest" &_" FROM 'f:\usr\d3services\tblMember052571.txt'" & _" WITH (FIELDTERMINATOR = '|', ROWTERMINATOR = '', FIRSTROW=2)"cn.execute strSQL'clean up ADO objectsSet cn=nothing Post #220751 Ray MRay M Posted Friday, September 16, 2005 10:22 AM UDP Broadcaster Group: General Forum Members Last Login: Tuesday, August 16, 2016 3:59 PM Points: 1,487, Visits: 1,076 What is the error message?C
