System Error 5 Has Occurred Access Is Denied Windows 7
System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied 841199 Apr 13, 2011 8:40 PM I just installed Oracle 11g XE on Windows 7. When I try to start using the "Start DB" button, the command window pops up with the following (elipsis added to shorten path): -------------------- ... server\BIN% net start OracleXETNSListener System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied. ... server\BIN % net start OracleServiceXE System error 5 has occurred. Access is denied. -------------------- Can anyone please explain this error and tell me how to prevent it (or whether I can ignore it)? Thanks in advance 9537Views Tags: none (add) 11gContent tagged with 11g, 5Content tagged with 5, errorContent tagged with error, oracleContent tagged with oracle, systemContent tagged with system, xeContent tagged with xe This content has been marked as final. Access is denied orafad Apr 13, 2011 9:09 PM (in response to 841199) The start menu option "Start database" is really a call to StartDB.bat (in bin directory). On win 7 (and others), this needs to be run under a elevated privs command prompt. You could right click and Run as administrator or open a command prompt in this way (run as..) and just call startdb bat file. This is a known issue, per [url http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E17781_01/doc.112/e21743/toc.htm#CIABHHDG]Readme, 2.2.3. Li
