All of our applications are 32-bit, so they can't use the 64-bit client. But our department is starting to receiving 64-bit laptops with the "Windows 7" 64-bit OS. We'll need to continue using the 32-bit applications even though all our new laptops will be using the "Windows 7" 64-bit OS. Here's the scenario: I successfully install the 11g

(C:\…\…dll). ========= ANSWER ------ The path to the ODBC driver which is listed in the Registry is incorrect. To repair, edit the registry as follows: Open the Registry Editor (click the Start button in Windows, select Run, type: REGEDIT, click OK)Locate the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ODBC\ODBCINST.INI Look for the corresponding key named for the driver you are working with, and select that system error code key. Look at the Driver and Setup strings on the right. Now open Windows Explorer and attempt to browse to those paths in your file system. Chances are you will not be able to. For example, you may have C:\WINNT\system32\sqlsrv32.dlllisted, when in fact your system has the driver at C:\WINDOWS\system32\sqlsrv32.dll Edit each String to the correct file path, and you will no longer experience Error 126 ========= EXAMPLES ------ see ANSWER ========= APPLIES TO / KEY WORDS ------ ODBC Database Connection File Path ========= REF ------http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260558 --http://www.anysitesupport.com/odbc-error-the-setup-routines-for-the-x-odbc-driver-could-not-be-loaded/ http://anySiteHosting.com Leave a Comment Cancel reply Your email address will not be published. Driver issue [message #178831] Fri, 23 June 2006 00:51 shilpa_sudhakar Messages: 25Registered: March 2006 Location: Australia Junior Member Hi All, Today morning we restarted our production server. Since then we are not able to connect to Oracle from Visual Basic and also from DOS Prompt. The following are the scenarios where i tried accessing Oracle. 1) I have an Excel sheet where vba code is written.I try running the code and get the error Quote: "Catastrophic failure" When i debug, the error occurs at the connection to Oracle Quote: Set conn = CreateObject("ADODB.Connection") conn.Open "Provider=MSDAORA; Data Source='PRD'; USER ID='user';password='abcde';" 2) In the DOS Prompt, i go to the ORACLE PATH and then type sqlplus. But the sqlplus screen does not appear. 3) Start->Settings->Control Panel->Administrative Tools-> Data Sources Here, i try to add DataSource under User DSN or for that matter to any other DSN. I get the following error: Quote: "The setup routines for the Microsoft ODBC for Oracle ODBC Driver could not be loaded due to system error code 998" I would like to know if there is any problem with the ODBC Driver. The system was fine till yesterday. The problem is only after we restarted the server today morning.
