error. "System Error (Focus)"The camera will start up, try for 1 second, maybe 2, to focus on something, will extend the lens about half way, and then stop and display that error message on a white screen.Brand new camera. But panasonic lumix dmc tz30 system error zoom unfortunately purchased through an unauthorized dealer (got a great price, had to go for it), so no manufacturer warranty on this one.Does anyone have any experience with this error? Am I just THAT unlucky?Or are these cameras especially susceptible to moisture and/or dirt and dust?I am leaning toward this being an environmental problem. This second one died shortly after I pulled it out for 1 single shot on a canoe trip. It was raining. It was not directly exposed to panasonic lumix dmc-zs20 system error (zoom) the rain, but the day was a damp and humid one. While the camera was in a waterproof case most of the day, I wonder if the dampness affected it.Problem is, I have subjected my ZS5's to conditions no worse than I have ever subjected any other camera, including several other point and shoots that were on the same trips these have been on... and did not break.Any ideas or thoughts? A pocket, maybe?Sounds to me like dirt in the lens barrels or drive mechanism. When P&S camera lenses push out & retract, they act just like a piston air pump, pumping air in & out, carrying dust & dirt with it.I have found - and forum regulars know I'm a bug on it - that carrying your camera in a loose plastic bag will mostly eliminate this problem of dirt being sucked into the camera.A "sandwich bag", bought for a buck or so a box at the grocery store. Not a zip lock bag - slows down your 'quick draw', and it's thought that sealing any moisture into such a bag and p

Panasonic Lumix Dmc-zs19 System Error (zoom)
for instance was the problem in the cams of the zoom lens (there are three sets of lens that slide in and out on cams) or was it within the focusing element https://www.dpreview.com/forums/thread/3021069 which focuses the light on the light capture device - a CCD in the case of the Panasonic? It turned out to be grit on drive of the 4th focus lens which jammed it. I found a service manual for the camera at http://www.scribd.com/doc/96821254/DMC-TZ10-ZS7-Service-Manual (assessed 29 March 2013) which made repairing the camera very much easier. Other models might be found on http://www.statmyweb.com/s/repair-guide-tz10 Dave http://agardenersmusings.blogspot.com/2013/03/fixing-jammed-focus-lens-in-panasonic.html Baar has a detail description of his ordeal at the link below, for a slightly different camera - Panasonic Lumix DMC-ZS8 Camera on http://media.davebaar.com/wordpress/?p=793 (accessed 29 March 2013), but well worth the read. First attempts Using his and other's suggestions I tried 1. Low batteries - a camera may not function properly when batteries a low. Insert a fully charged set to see if things improve.2. Full memory card - when a memory card is full, a digital camera may not turn on (not my problem as it could turn). Download all the photos, back them up and delete them from the memory card. Other ideas tried 1. Remove the batteries, followed by the memory card. Then install new batteries/freshly charged batteries, and turn on the camera. 2. Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins in their slots.3. Blow compressed air in the gaps around the len

There are system error some DIY solutions you could try, but the probability is that you will have to get it fixed by a professional.Use these at own risk as it may further damage the camera.Firstly , try connecting your ac adapter or usb cable.Try holding the shutter button while switching on the camera.Look at the lens , and if some of the lens 'circles' is misaligned or not concentric then try wiggling it (while holding camera lens down).Try gently pushing or pulling the lens system error focus when it extends but this is risky as it may cause the lens barrel to slip out of its guidance system.Another way to do this is to place the camera lens down on a hard surface and then power it up. Be sure to use a soft cloth or something similar as to not scratch your lens or casing. Let the lens push the camera up and down a few times and sometimes the little resistance provided by the camera is enough to get things going again.Try hitting your camera near the lens on the body with the soft tissue on the palm of your hand.Other than that , I would take the camera to a repair center for a evaluation to see if it would cost more to repair than to replace the camera. If it is still under warranty I would suggest you take it in before trying any of these steps and remove any off-brand batteries or accessories as some stores are really fussy about warranty repairs on camera's with non-brand accessories.Hope the advise is useful.
