print spooler, which I've done many times. I go to "run," type "cmd" & enter the command: "net stop spooler." When I execute the spooler system error 5 has occurred net start command I get the above error message. I did a search on google & got a lot of hits but none of them were useful. What is going on & how do I solve this "system 5 error" problem? Thanks for any print spooler keeps stopping help. ron40, Jun 18, 2014 #1 Sponsor davehc Trusted Advisor Joined: Oct 4, 2006 Messages: 1,937 Try restarting the spooler at the same time. The combination command would be net stop spooler && net start spooler I try to avoid the command line as much as possible, on the understanding that a user OS should not need in depth commands. When I have a document problem such as yours, I normally open the "Devices and Printers", in the Control Panel, click in
Disk 100%
and "see what's printing" and clear it from there. Sometimes needs a restart. davehc, Jun 19, 2014 #2 Macboatmaster Trusted Advisor Joined: Jan 14, 2010 Messages: 16,441 You must run that cmd on an elevated cmd prompt instead of simply opening the cmd prompt on windows 8.1 however you access it - right click and click run as admin or if you access it from search charms, click run as admin the cmd window will then be titled Administrator command prompt and not merely command prompt please see screenshot as explained here You can also clear print jobs by using an elevated Command Prompt. You will get the Access Denied error if you attempt to do this with a normal Command Prompt. That said, perhaps I am on the wrong tack as you say I have windows 8, 32 bit & I'm trying to clear my print spooler, which I've done many timesClick to expand... In Win 8 I have to choose "Command Prompt (Admin)' from the dropdown choices. I was selecting "Run" from the dropdown choices to get a command line rather than "Command Prompt (Admin)." I just forgot. I'm new to win 8. Go figure. Thanks to all for replying. Ron ron40, Jun 20, 2014 #4 Macboatmaster Trusted Advisor Joined: Jan 14, 2010 Mess

Now Hi Everyone First time poster so be gentle! ;-) I'm having domain wide issues with clients not being able to print due to print spooler sub system errors on start up. When I try to manually start the spooler it starts for a https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/452370-print-spooler-sub-system-error second and then stops. if i try through a command prompt I get "System error 5 has occurred Access denied" Our print server is WS2K3, I'm in the process of building a 2012 print server to replace it. I have trawled the forums and tried the following: - after giving "everyone" access to the directory I delete files in the C:\Windows\System32\spool\printers & \drivers folders and tried to install network printers. - repairing the windows install Initially this issue affected everyone but Win xp users seem system error to have recovered. WIn7 users still have the issue. cheers Brad Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Daily Print Spooler Error Print Spooler Madness Print Spooler Problem Turning Pandemic   15 Replies Chipotle OP AkDonKeys Mar 4, 2014 at 1:15 UTC Did you load the win 7 drivers to the print server for each printer? Are these universal print drivers per chance? Check the print spooler on the server as well as the folder spool\printers on the server to see if it is empty and if the spooler is stopped. Have any printers been deleted recently? 1 Pimiento OP Brad9917 Mar 4, 2014 at 1:29 UTC We have WSUS but it's not currently working. Ou
