If you're experiencing a 'connection error' when clicking web-update please try updating from the start menu (Start->All Programs->Lavasoft->Ad-Aware and click 'Ad-Aware Updates') or use one of the workarounds below. 1. Go to C:\Program Files\Lavasoft\Ad-Aware and right click onAAWService.exe, select properties in popup menu and in the Compatibility tab. Change the Compatibility mode to "Run this program in compatibility mode for: Windows XP (service Pack 2)" , click ‘apply’ then ‘ok’. Do the same for Ad-AwareAdmin.exe and then retry the web-update. 2. Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Services and locate "Lavasoft Ad-Aware Service". Stop the Service (if started) and then right click/properties. Under Logon, check "Allow service to interact with desktop", click OK and restart the service and then retry the web-update. Update error - Connection failed, check your settings? by Jona on March 28th, 2011. We are currently having some problems with the updates for an older version of Ad-Aware. If you cannot update and are using Ad-Aware Anniversary Edition you should uninstall, download the latest version (9.0.2 or later) and reinstall Ad-Aware. You can un-install the program, by going to:Start -> Programs -> Lavasoft -> Ad-Aware -> and click on Uninstall Ad-AwareReboot your computer.Then download the software again, re-install it, and register it again.You can download Ad-Aware from here. On the screen the error message of installation Ad-Aware with a sentence to close the program and to try to set it once again. Hi bvi1952, Since the latest version of Ad-Aware requires that XP is fully updated, please check that by running this Microsoft program: http://download.wind...Agent30-x86.exe It is also safer to uninstall Ad-Aware version 11.10 and restart the computer before installing version 11.11 than doing and upgrade of Ad-Aware. You can fetch version 11.11 on Lavasoft's web site. If you still have problems after that, please collect logs and other information
