AVCHD utilizes MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 (AVC) video compression codec. From the incomparable Dave LaRonde: Dave's Stock https://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/969534 Answer #1: If the footage you imported into AE is any kind of the following -- footage in an HDV acquisition codec, MPEG1, MPEG2, mp4, m2t, H.261 or H.264 -- you need to convert it to a different codec. These kinds of footage use temporal, or interframe compression. They have keyframes at regular intervals, containing complete frame information. However, the frames in between do NOT have complete information. Interframe codecs toss out duplicated information. In order to maintain peak rendering efficiency, AE needs complete information for each and every frame. But because these kinds of footage contain only partial information, AE freaks out, resulting in a wide variety of problems. You need to use your favorite encoder (Adobe Media Encoder is a good one) or your editing software to export/render/encode your video as a different kind of file format such as a Quicktime movie. - The Great Szalam (The 'Great' stands for 'Not So Great, in fact, Extremely Humble') No trees were harmed in the creation of this message, but several thousand electrons were mildly inconvenienced.Return to posts indexReport Post<< PREVIOUS • VIEW ALL • PRINT • NEXT >>© 2016 CreativeCOW.net All Rights Reserved[TOP]

I can import the footage - all seems to be going well and then I start to get "file cannot be opened" unsupported format ( 86::1 ) errors for some, but not all of the footage. 2 different jobs, different cameras, different drives. Adobe tech support had no good ideas. Anybody see anything similar? Any ideas? Have you tried loading the clips in Premiere or in our REDCINE-X (PRO) application? If you're having issues with specific clips then please email us (redcinex at red dot com) so we can take a look at the file.
