The host (ESXi 5.5.0) is an Intel Xeon E5430@2.66 GHz (Dell PowerEdge 2950). These backups often abort with this error message (see attachment / Backupexec error code E00084F4). If I do the same backupjob to an usb device it works fine. The backup server and the backupexec software is up to date. BackupExec (Trialversion) aborts with the same error. Have you asked the question on Symantec's forums? Since you appear to be doing disk to disk backups over your network, is there anything else (traffic wise) going on at the same time, that might interfere with these backups. If you are backing up Windows servers, have you checked the event logs there to see if you can glean any additional information that might be useful.
