We have a single BE 12 server. We been receiving the following errors from all Windows, Linux and Mac servers. And also errors relating to "value out of range" When I try to restore the Backup Set Number that ends with a negative value (ie, -30577) and catalog File Name ending in a negative value (ie, ....._-30577.xml) are the ones that doesn't show the restore list after the backup job is successful. We trying everything from repair DB, renaming Catalog folders, etc... still no luck! Please help! As we are not able to do any kind of backups at this point we can not afford to start over and lose months of backups. Backup Exec Alert: Catalog Error ODBC access error. Look for beutil.exe in the backup exec bin directory. You'll be able to use this tool to add the backup exec service account to have permissions on the database. The options for this are in the left pane at the bottom. You'll need to connect to the media server with the tool first. 0 Message Author Comment by:Operator102008-01-10 Thanks AJ. Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now rant I am getting sick of our backup solution including BE2012. It's always a hassle to make things work. Every week it's a battle to get everything backed-up. The few weeks per year that all backups succeed it's a great relief. Shouldn't it be the other way around ? I should be very surprised when things fail ... over here I am surprised if it actually worked the way it's intended to work. I'm sick of this erratical childish behaviour of my backup system !!! Aaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh ! /rant Seriously , I'm getting errors , jobs keeping running , part of a newly created job not appearing in the jobs list (so I can't even start it) , stupid error messages when taking a regular (successfull) backup , the BU software not updating to the latest SP , tape drive keeps asking for cleaning even when a schedule is in place (OK , this one may be Dell's fault) , ... . On average it almost takes me half a day up to a day's work PER WEEK to get the backup $*£%#@ like it should. What do you use ? How much work is it for you to maintain ?
