When ever I try to update the BE remote agent from within backup exec I receive the "Failed to create remote process VxPushRA\RAWSX64\strpimon.exe with error code 183" error. I went ahead and uninstalled the agent from the remote server locally and tried copying the msxml and rawsx64 files that way to install. Wierdly, when i go to command prompt to start the install, the only thing that seems to happenis windows explorer opens up to c:\windows\system32\setup. Backup exec 2010 R3 13.5204 with all current hotfix's applied. Seams odd that during a backup it would create anything. Any ideas on what to look at or how to fix these issues. Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now We were, up until mid last year, using CommVault Simpana 2 before we switched to using BackupExec. The server was dropped off the domain in error and has now been joined up again. The problem I have is that I am unable to get the Application Manager service to start in Windows. It throws me this error when I try manually: error 183: cannot create a file when that file already exists. I believe this error is also causing the Job Manager and Media & Library Manager to fail to start but am unsure at this stage (they are not dependent). Haven't had much luck finding a result in Google for this. CommVault Simpana 8   9 Replies Jalapeno OP David6410 Jul 8, 2014 at 8:02 UTC Hi - are you sure you were on V2 that is a very old version of CV? Why are you bringing it back up...is it for a restore? Which server was dropped off the domain - the commserve? is it physical or virtual? Do you still have a media agent server running? Do you mean the service control manager wont start? Is there anything in the windows event logs - you can also look at the CV logs (best using gxtail to do this) they should sit here C:\Program Files\CommVault\Galaxy\Log Files This error could be a red herring and might indicate a file is already in use or locked. If it was mid last year do you have any service contract left? I would first make sure that it has all the latest patches but not sure how you can do that unless you are on V7 or later If you can expand on the info a bit I can post it up on the Maintenance Advantage forum over at commvault and see what we get...
