Backup Exec Loading Media Stuck
recognised as "Bad Media" in Backup Exec. Solution 1. Download the latest Device Driver Installer (DDI) & install it . Latest DDI for Backup Exec can be download from the following link:www.symantec.com/business/support/index (Select Backup Exec - Under the 'Product Support' facet on right - Select Downloads) 2. Uninstall OEM drivers & use tapeinst.exe to install Symantec tape drivers for the tape device (See Related Articles Section) 3. Update the Medium Changer drivers to 'Unknown Medium Changer' (See Related Articles Section) 4. Perform a sequential powercycle of Robotic library & Media Server 5. Open the Backup Exec console - Go to the Media tab - Click Retired media - Delete all medias which are detected as Retired Media 6. I have a new IBMTS3100 (LTO4)libraryconnected (via SAS) with an IBMx3400 (using a dedicated HBASAS - 25R8060). On the x3400 I have a fresh W2k3 64bit installation with Symantec Backup Exec 12.5. Both O.S. and Backup Exec are upgraded to the last version, service pack and patch. I have also installed the symantec driver for the tape and upgrade the firmware of library, tape and HBA to the last release. Everything work correctly, but about once a day the library mark a tape as bad and the Backup Exec stop to write on the tape. If I remove the bad LTO Backup Exec it works again. The first few backups were successful. I am now getting bad media errors and cannot get the backup to work. I created a new job and I even bought new media tapes but cannot get a backup. I just have one main folder of data on the server and just need a simple backup but cannot get one. Has anyone else had this problem and how did you resolve it? I am desperate.
