Getting a sucessfull backup was always a crapshoot. Now we have one of our B2D folders not working, and I even tried deleting it to recreate it, but when I try to move the jobs to it, it says "An error occured while retargeting Nightly Incremental - LAN - Win2003 Systems". So I can't even delete it. But let's rewind and I'll tell you what's happening. First off, I noticed that a Nightly Incremental job was queued for over 515 hours. I stopped the job. It was destined to go to the B2D folder we are having the problem. We have 2 Backup 2 Disk folders. One is an EMC Cellerra SAN with a 2TB CIFS store carved out, and that works 70% of the time. We'll call this san1, but we won't reference it often because it is working. The other is an Adaptec SNAP Server (1TB) which is also connected via CIFS
the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I upgraded a working Backup Exec 2012 install to 2014. Since I upgraded I cannot add https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/562783-symantec-bu-exec-2014-event-id-33808-cannot-create-b2d a new Backup to Disk storage. When I go through the prompts, and press Finish is brings up an error dialog box that says: "Unable to create the disk storage. The parameters is incorrect" Checking https://www.experts-exchange.com/questions/27492003/Backup-Exec-Event-ID-33808.html the event log it throws 3 new events, all with event ID 33808 & the same message for each: An error occurred while processing a B2D command. Changer: MoveMedium() Attempt to Lock Slot Failed backup exec (\\tardis.lcl.local\backups\Obiwan\Backup_Exec\Folder.lck). Error=5 The new backup storage is a Centos 6 box running samba. This box is working fine, and I can access (read/write/delete) to the share from the host box no problem. The other 2 storage nodes I have are an old centos 5 (similar setup to the one I am attempting to create), and an old 2008r2 file server. Any ideas on how I can get around this error an error occurred to create a new storage for B2D backups? Ik had the error "The query for job view failed" after upgrading. Couldn't see or add any job. Best/fastest solution was begin from scratch. Worked for me. Technician from Symantec told me there where some issues when you upgrade from 2012 to 2014. He couldn't help me at all. There should be an hotfix for this issue by now but didn't saw any messages jet. Good luck. 0 Serrano OP Vivek (Symantec) Aug 20, 2014 at 11:53 UTC Brand Representative for Symantec Hiya Well

Solved Backup Exec Event ID 33808 Posted on 2011-12-13 Storage Software Windows Server 2008 1 Verified Solution 1 Comment 1,988 Views Last Modified: 2012-05-12 I am running Backup Exec 12.5 on a Server 2008 R2 server, and Backup Exec 2010 R2 on a different Server 2008 R2 server (two different clients). On both servers I get Backup Exec Event ID 33808 errors for b2d files that have been deleted using an xdelete script. An error occurred while processing a B2D command. Changer: Couldn't ReadFMTables/RecoverBKF (\\SHARENAME\Backups\server1_weekly\B2D000976.bkf). Error=32 I have already tried the first steps outlined here: http://eventid.net/display.asp?eventid=33808&eventno=3598&source=Backup%20Exec&phase=1 The interesting thing is that I do not get the errors for my "daily" media pool - only my "weekly" media pool. Is there a way to prevent Backup Exec from reporting the errors since since they do not affect the success of my backups but they are filling my application log? Thanks. 0 Question by:fisher_king Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google Best Solution byfisher_king I changed the media type to be overwrite protected so that BU Exec would not try to reuse them, and the errors stopped.
