Cause The alert occurred because Symantec Backup Exec could not access the Backup-to-Disk device. This is typically caused by one or more of the following reasons also:1. Folder becoming inaccessible due to it being deleted, renamed or unshared. 2. It may also be caused by a disk full condition. 3. The folder state has been set to offline or device communications could be down in case if the backup-to-disk folder is located on a remote server / NAS.4. Administrator password on the remote device has been changed.5. Changes to device IP address / Name have not been updated and corresponding DNS entries are missing. Solution ** If the Backup to Disk can be accessed using Windows, try renaming the Folder.cfg and Changer.cfg to Folder.cfg.old and Changer.cfg.old ** Restart B

Additional detail may be found in the Event Viewer - Application Log.We then need to go into devices and select, backup to disk folders and remove the pausecurrently maximum size for backup to disk files is at 80GB (the size of the removable media) With 0MB reserveThe job is set to Overwrite media when it executes.This is a very annoying thing and something I'm guessing is pretty easy to fix. This happens very sporadically - I can be sitting watching via BackupExec and it happens - no one will be logged onto the backup server, and I will receive emails that the Device is offline. There does not appear to be any rhyme or reason for this to be happening. This can be a larger problem when I am away from the office for any length of time, and no one can manually right-click the device and put it back 'o
