Solved Backup Exec /Exchange 2003 Restore error - e000848c - Unable to attach to a resource Posted on 2009-03-26 Storage Software Exchange Windows Server backup exec 2003 1 Verified Solution 4 Comments 4,491 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-01 I am currently having issues trying to restore a mailbox from a backup of an exchange database. The restore job is selecting the data from the previous night, from the device and media label. I am currently just selecting a test users mailbox and restoring the whole thing (have tried on different granular levels too). I am leaving all backup exec error options pretty much default and have tested the account credentials and all is working. When I run the job, I receive the error: Final error: 0xe000848c - Unable to attach to a resource. Make sure that all selected resources exist and are online, and then try again. Final error category: Resource Errors For additional information regarding this error refer to link V-79-57344-33932 I have investigated many of the KB articles and am getting no where, the job always fails almost as soon as its run. This restore used to work a few months back and since testing recently it doesn't work at all. I have enabled debugging mode and have pasted the job log into the code section below. The important lines according to one KB article are 48~75. I can successfully restore other jobs, it just seems to be ones involving exchange, which means the device error is not to do with the drive I have the files stored. If any BE Expert can shed some light or offer suggestions I would be most grateful. Solved Backup Exec 10d cannot restore a SQL Server database to a redirected target Posted on 2008-03-21 Storage Software 1 Verified Solution 21 Comments 4,255 Views Last Modified: 2013-12-01 I've been trying to restore a database backed up from a SQL 2000 server to a SQL 2005 server. Backup Exec 10d kept giving a "0xe000848c - Unable to attach to a resource. Make sure all selected resources exist" error. I've made sure all accounts working and all machine have no name resolution/connectivity issue. I turned on debugging for BEengine and found out the job always ended with this in the log: [1928] 03/21/08 11:54:40 TF_InitMediaServerReverseConnection : Data Connection information : connection established between IP 192.168.220.39, port 2021 and IP 192.168.220.60, port 1385 [1928] 03/21/08 11:54:40 ERROR: 10 Error: Invalid device [1928] 03/21/08 11:54:40 Enter RestoreMessageHandler::GetMachineName [1928] 03/21/08 11:54:40 Exit GetMachineName - Machine name: [CHISQL2005] [1928] 03/21/08 11:54:40 ERROR: 13 Error: Invalid state to process request Note that CHISQL2005 is the target and 192.168.220.60 is its IP. So the media server (192.168.220.39) has no problem finding and connecting to the target. The original SQL Server is 2000 x86 Enterprise; the target is 2005 x64 Standard. Not aware any issue related to this kind of setup. Any idea? 0 Question by:techhealth Facebook Twitter LinkedIn Google LVL 1 Best Solution byNIDDK1550 I wa
