Join Now Good Afternoon, For months now I've been trying to get Symantec Backup Exec Recovery v. 12.5 to create backups but no matter what I do, it keeps failing. The error that I have is Event ID: 34113 and the source is Job. "The Job failed with the following error: Access is denied". I have full access to everything so I don't see how this is an issue, if that actually is the problem. I've run LiveUpdate so everything should be working fine. Anyone have any idea on how to solve this? Any help would be appreciated, thank you for your time, Sincerely, Kai Reply Subscribe RELATED TOPICS: Symantec Backup Exec Symantec Backup Exec Problem I need help with Symantec Backup Exec, anyone able to help?   13 Replies Habanero OP B-C Nov 13, 2009 at 1:36 UTC The problem is usually related to once section of a job... The recommended action is to break the backups up so you can detect which one is failing.. It sounds as if the service account BENT (created by the install usually in older versions) has hit a password change or something... It doesn't use your account it usually has its own. find that account and verify or change the password and make sure you update the password in the service as well. (probably a few more things I missing) What is the backup actually processing - Exchange - Files - Sharepoint - SQL? Where is it saying the failure is occurring with the access denied in its logs? 0 Thai Pepper OP Flashman Nov 13, 2009 at 1:40 UTC Kai, Do you use your credentials with this backup job? It certainly appears to be an authentications issue The first thing I'd try would be to create another administrative user, and log in with that account. Also, when logging in, you may need to use domain\user type logins (this depends on a lot of things with your network, but it's worth a try!)... If this doesn't fix the problem, then I'd start looking through the Event Logs for more BackupExec errors. It's possible that the job build is corrupt, and you could just create a new job and try that as well.

am using Windows Server 2003, Exchange 2003 and Symantec BackupExec 11d The exchange server is on the same box as the Symantec BackupExec software. I kind of "inherited" the current setup from another when I started. With nothing changed from the original setup http://forums.msexchange.org/m_1800489501/printable.htm I noticed a problem. When I try to restore something from an exchange mailbox, it errors out with an access is denied. So I decided to check out the backup settings and found what seems to be the https://thebackroomtech.wordpress.com/tag/backup-exec/ source of the problem. In the Resource Credentials sections of the backup, I get this: quote: Server -System LogonAccount -Successful C: - Successful - used server credientals "" "" Microsoft Exchange Mailboxes - Domain/username - Access is backup exec Denied Microsoft Public Folders - Domain/username - Access is Denied D: - Successful - used server credientals Ok so I figured that I would change the logon account for those two. I did two seperate things. First, I tried to use the Administrator account, the same account that was successful on the other drives. This account is a domain admin, local admin and has an exchange account. Second, I created a new user account in backup exec error Active Directory. Added that user to the domain admins group, administrators group and enterprise admins group. I also went into Microsoft system manager and added that user to the Exchange System Manager server with full control to that server. Now, Im not sure what step I am missing but it still says access is denied when I change the logon creditials in the backup exchange properites for the two exchange sections. Not sure if this information will help, but when I catalog the backup tape, it shows the mailboxes and emails and lets me drill down to the individual emails, but it fails when I try to restore them. I would appreciate any information or help in resolving this problem. The original username that was being used is a valid user and has had no security changes. jveldh -> RE: Symantec BackupExec fails to restore exchange emails (13.Oct.2008 12:48:56 PM) Hi, Under which account are the Backup Exec services running ? If this is another account then the administrator account ensure that this account has enough permissions to right in the mailboxes. rprewitt -> RE: Symantec BackupExec fails to restore exchange emails (13.Oct.2008 2:09:49 PM) Ok, in the administrator tools/services All of the Backup Exec services are running with the domain\administrator account except for "Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Systems" which is using

Make sure that the correct version of the Remote Agent is installed and running on the target computer. Final error category: Resource Errors This same error was seen in the Windows Application log as Backup Exec Event 34113. A check of the server listed in the error log showed the Backup Exec Remote Agent service had been stopped and disabled last night. I checked with the administrator who did this, and she confirmed the server had been decomissioned and was no longer being backed up. Oddly enough, she said she removed the server from the Backup Exec job's selection list. I opened up the selections list for the job in question, and lo and behold, the offending server was still selected. I deselected the server, applied changes, re-opened the server selections - and the server was still selected. Initial thought was something was wrong with Backup Exec, so I exited the program, restarted the BE services, went back into the application and went through the exercise of deselecting the decommissioned server and saving cha
