Now when I try to start Device & Media, Job Engine and Backup Exec Server services, I get this 1068 error, with 7001 and 7023 error logs in Event Viewer. Did some research.... I checked these 2 issues: - Made sure the MSSQL$BKUPEXEC service was started - Checked folder permissions on the Veritas folder under Program Files I found the suggestion below but, there is no Bewinui.ini file. I did this same thing, change the service logon accounts, on a server running BE 8.6 and had no problems. Any suggestions? ----------------------------------- This error message can also occur if the Backup Exec service account password have been changed. To resolve this issue do the following: 1. If the Operating System is Windows NT4, Click on Start | Settings | Control Panel | Services or If the Operating System is Windows 2000, click on Start | Programs | Administrative Tools | Services 2. While the Backup Exec services are stopped for each Backup Exec service, type in the password and confirm the password. 3. Then Open Windows Explorer 4. Navigate the Backup Exec directory (the default directory is C: Program files/Veritas/Backup Exec/NT/ Data) to the Data sub directory. 5. Rename the Bewinui.uni file in the Data folder to Bewinui.old. 6. Close Windows
Backup Exec Join the Community! Creating your account only takes a few minutes. Join Now I am currently running Backup Exec 2010 R3 on Windows server 2003. Attempting to start the Backup Exec Job Engine service results with error 1068: The dependency service or https://community.spiceworks.com/topic/985951-backup-exec-2010-r3-job-engine-service-error-1068 group failed to start. I believe this service fails as it is dependent upon the Remote Agent for Windows service. I thought the remote agent agent only needs to be installed on remote machines that require backing up, not sure this service needs http://www.techrepublic.com/forums/discussions/backup-exec-12-services-will-not-start/ to be installed on this machine?. Any help on this issue would be greatly appreciated. After fixing this hardware issue, backups would no longer run service will not (all ip addresses of remote machines changed) and I am no longer able to browse remote resources. In an attempt to get the backups running again I have restarted the server. I was told this machine did not require Remote Agent and I removed it. Attempting to restart the Remote Agent service on results in "The system cannot find the file specified." The option to install Remote Agent (from disk) is greyed out and my only option is to create a Transform. 0 Pimiento OP aw3 Jun 2, 2015 at 3:54 UTC Restarting all services results in: Starting Backup Exec Remote Agent for Windows Systems on SERVER. If that doesn’t resolve the issue, then: Set the Backup Exec Remote Agent service in debug mode and see if the log shows any clues. See

By mellow52 · 9 years ago OK so I am at beginner level with this but will explain the best I can. Let me set the stage: Got a SONY AIT Backup Tape Drive that came with Backup Exec 12, installed it on my SBS 2003 HP Proliant ML370 G4.Right so when I started the program it asked me to create a user login, so I made it the same as my server login, many hours later I learned this should be a different login so I tried to change it to something different. The bottom line is now the services does not want to start. I changed all the services to the recent user name and password but still no luck, they just will not start up. This is the Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start.Any help on this bugger?
